Gray Line Tennessee is Nashville's Leader in Transportation with over 250 vehicles in the fleet and over 300 employees dedicated to providing safe, authentic, and professional transportation services. We currently operate five distinct businesses, all of which are oriented toward safety, quality, and customer service.

CDL School is available for individuals are looking to start a new career with Gray Line of Tennessee in our School Bus and RTA Division.
Classes start every other week and will be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
at 3009 Dickerson Pike, Nashville, TN 37210.
We will prepare candidates to obtain their CDL Class B, with Air Brake, Passenger, and School Bus endorsements. All candidates must obtain their permit by passing the written General Knowledge Test for the Class B license as well as the written tests for Air Brakes, Passenger, and School Bus endorsements prior to arriving for CDL School.
After you have taken and passed all written tests you will receive a Commercial Drivers Permit. This will allow you to operate a motorcoach while in training and to prepare you for your CDL Skills Test.

Gray Line Tennessee CDL School Eligibility & Requirements
  • Must complete Gray Line TN application process for licensed drivers including MVR, background check, and drug screen.
  • Eligible students must obtain their permit with endorsements prior to arriving to Orientation.
  • Must be hired as a full-time driver and must remain a full-time driver with Gray Line TN for a minimum of 1 year.
  • CDL School Students will be compensated $20 per hour participated in training.
  • Students are expected to be prepared for class each day by completing any assigned reading and homework the night before.
  • Gray Line TN will cover the cost to complete your third-party Skills Test. If you do not pass the first time, you will be responsible for any retesting costs.
  • If you do not pass the test after the second time, you will be removed from the program.
  • If you do not remain employed as a full-time driver for Gray Line TN for a minimum of 1 year, you will be responsible to pay back the company the cost of CDL training up to the amount of $2000.

CDL Driver School Qualifications
CDL School Applicants Must:
  • Obtain a CDL Permit prior to assigned start date.
  • Have a valid TN State Driver's License prior to assigned start date.
  • Be at least twenty-five (25) years old by the assigned start date.
  • Understand, speak and read English.
  • Have no more than one (1) moving violation within the last three (3) years of driving.
  • Have no DWI or DUI conviction(s)
  • Pass a substance abuse and alcohol screen.
  • Pass state and federal criminal history background check.
  • *IT IS IMPORTANT TO DISCLOSE ANY RECORD THAT MAY APPEAR ON YOUR MOTOR VEHICLE RECORD WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS.
