Job description

Bluebird Self Storage is growing in Southern New Hampshire, and we’re excited to expand our team! We are currently seeking a Full-Time Driver/Mover to join us.This role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with the ability to work on Saturdays as needed. A typical work day would be 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. The Driver/Mover is responsible for safely operating the box truck as well as moving tenants' items. Must be willing to commute to multiple Bluebird locations throughout the week.

As a provider of climate controlled self-storage in New Hampshire, Bluebird Self Storage offers a Free Pick-Up service when someone rents a unit. We will send a driver and helper in one of our box trucks to pick up the equivalent of what will fill a 10x10 unit. As the driver, you are expected to check the pick-up calendar on a daily basis and work efficiently with the office and Free Pick-Up staff to coordinate departure times for each pick up. You need to provide exceptional customer service experience in the handling of each customer’s possessions. This position provides a unique opportunity for those looking to combine general labor with their customer service talents. In addition to driving and moving, you are expected to do some general maintenance around each facility in your down time such as helping staff keep the facility clean by vacuuming and using the floor machine, snow removal in the winter months, or landscaping in the warmer months.
Your role here at Bluebird would entail:

  • Check the daily pick-up calendar and coordinate with Free Pick-Up staff to decide an appropriate departure time.

  • Communicate professionally with the customer and greet them upon arrival at the specified location.

  • Safely move items from the customer’s home into the Bluebird truck and then again from the truck into their storage unit.

  • Ensure that items are not damaged during transport and the moving process.

  • Keep up with daily cleaning tasks such as using the vacuum or floor machine.

  • Keep up with facility maintenance such as HVAC filter changes, snow removal, or landscaping around the premises.

  • Communicate with and report to the Manager.

  • Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects.

  • Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.

  • Make adjustments and minor repairs.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Must be a Team Player

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Professional attitude and demeanor

  • Experience in the fields of general labor, landscaping, construction, or warehouse is helpful but not mandatory

  • Stamina to lift heavy items (125 lbs. or more) repeatedly while climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, walking, etc.

  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record

  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and provide a valid DOT (Department of Transportation) medical card during pre-employment onboarding and before the start date of their employment to comply with DOT regulations.
