Job description

Job Description Iowa Department of Transportation's Mission is Making Lives Better Through Transportation. The Safety Section within the Traffic & Safety Bureau is a dedicated team that cares about making Iowa's highways safer and supporting efficient operations.

We're looking for a Traffic Safety Data Strategist who wants to make a positive impact working with the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT). If you enjoy digging into real-world data, solving problems, and helping others understand what the numbers mean, this could be a great fit. In this role, your main focus will be developing and improving tools that help us provide clear, accurate traffic safety data to DOT Divisions and Districts, other state agencies, and local partners across Iowa.

You'll do this through responsibilities such as: Managing crash data and leading data analysis efforts, including: Creating and updating analysis methods Working with large, complex datasets and applying advanced statistical techniques Updating guidance documents as methods improve Working with other DOT teams and tools to make sure safety information stays current and useful Leading technical advisory groups incorporating the use of safety analysis in project planning and delivery Building and improving data visualization resources Serving as a resource on data sources, analysis methods, and statistical best practices Location: Ames, Iowa Shift Requirements: Monday through Friday, flexible schedules are available. 2) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or universitywith a degree in business analytics, economics, data science, statistics, mathematics, management information systems, or industrial management, and experience equal to three years of full-time (as described in number one). NOTE: Only degrees listed are valid. 3) All of the following (a, b, and c): a.

One year of full-time work experience in business/data/statistical analytics, economic research, or data science; and b. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in business analytics, economics, data science, statistics, mathematics, management information systems, or industrial management equals one year of full-time experience; and c. A total of two years of graduate-level education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where twenty-four semester hours of accredited graduate college or university coursework in business analytics, economics, data science, statistics, mathematics, management information systems, or industrial management equals one year of full-time experience.

4) All of the following (a, b, and c): a. One year of full-time work experience in business/data/statistical analytics, economic research, or data science; and b. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience; and c.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in business analytics, economics, data science, statistics, mathematics, management information systems, or industrial management. 5) All of the following (a, b, and c): a. Three years of full-time work experience in business/data/statistical analytics, economic research, or data science; and b.

A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience; and c. Possession of a professional certificate in data science, business analytics, or data analytics. 6) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as a Data Analyst 2.
