Job description

Cyber Security Analyst

Information Technology Department

Position Summary:

The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for the protection of SIA's hardware, software, and networks. This role develops technical methodologies that support functional security procedures. Designs and utilizes security applications to understand and mitigate risk.

Outline of duties:

  1. Study our computer networks, systems, and assess any risks to see how security policies and defenses can be improved
  2. Work in collaboration with team members, and Information Technology leadership in security operations, projects, and detection, investigation, and remediation of InfoSec incidents.
  3. Collaborate with all sections of Information Technology to ensure that they are following security best practices in jobs
  4. Utilize your expertise to problem solve, and automate processes as you lead projects, create dashboards, alerts, and playbooks
  5. Utilize our Security Information and Event Management to monitor computer networks and systems to identify any violations and security breaches that need to be resolved
  6. Assist in selecting, installing, and utilizing security solutions to help protect our company's data and sensitive information
  7. Carry out regular tests to simulate attacks so they can identify areas where the company is vulnerable and ways in which its systems might be exploited by hackers and viruses
  8. Develop processes to ensure our company's systems stay as safe as possible, in addition to developing security standards for all associates to adhere to. This involves researching the latest information technology security trends and software to help prevent any issues
  9. Prepare and create regular reports to document any process implementation, improvements made, and security breaches that caused damage to our company
  10. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or related fields
  • Self-motivated - high initiative
  • Ability to manage projects from start to finish
  • Ability to use data to drive activity, productivity, and cost
  • Significant knowledge system software/hardware technology
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, VMware, and one or more scripting languages (i.e., Python, PowerShell, etc.)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in computer science, information security, or related fields
  • IT security related certification (i.e., CISSP, Security+, CEH, GCTI, GCIA, etc.)
