Description

M2 Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Exchange Server and Windows infrastructure to support enterprise messaging environments. This role will focus on designing, maintaining, and modernizing Exchange environments, including hybrid deployments with Microsoft 365.

The ideal candidate is a senior engineer who can operate independently, troubleshoot complex performance issues, and guide customers through migrations, architecture decisions, and operational best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Engineer, administer, and maintain enterprise Microsoft Exchange Server environments in both on-premises and hybrid configurations
  • Design and support hybrid messaging architectures integrating Microsoft 365 with legacy on-premises systems
  • Architect, implement, and troubleshoot Database Availability Groups (DAGs) to ensure high availability and disaster recovery
  • Manage and support Active Directory infrastructure, including forest/domain design, replication, and recovery strategies
  • Diagnose and resolve complex performance, connectivity, and mail flow issues across Windows and Exchange environments
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell to streamline operations and reduce manual effort
  • Provide Tier 3/4 escalation support and communicate technical issues, risks, and mitigation strategies clearly to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, and operations teams to ensure secure and compliant messaging systems

Required Qualifications
  • Top Secret SCI (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Minimum 11 years of hands-on experience engineering and administering Microsoft Exchange environments
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Exchange on-premises to cloud migrations
    • Hybrid Exchange deployments with Microsoft 365
    • Active Directory architecture, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery
    • Designing and supporting Exchange Database Availability Groups
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot Windows Server and Exchange performance issues in enterprise environments
  • Strong problem-solving and customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to:
    • Set expectations with stakeholders
    • Develop and execute remediation plans
    • Provide clear, professional technical updates
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in environments following Security Development Operations (SecDevOps) principles
  • Familiarity with enterprise communication architectures and related technologies (e.g., unified communications and secure messaging solutions)
  • Experience using ServiceNow for incident, change, and problem management
  • Experience supporting Authentication & Authorization (A&A) and System Security Plan (SSP) documentation and processes
  • Prior experience providing Tier 3 or Tier 4 operational support in a mission-critical environment
  • Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments
  • Familiarity with modern programming or scripting languages such as Python, C#, Java, or Perl
  • Microsoft certifications such as:
    • Exchange Server certifications
    • Microsoft Azure administration or engineering certifications
