JOB DESCRIPTION

Corporate A/V Technician

Position Overview

The Senior Corporate A/V Technician is a technical lead responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and quality control of professional audiovisual systems used in trade shows, corporate events, live broadcasts, executive presentations, and other client-facing productions. This role serves as the lead on-site technician for assigned events, ensuring successful equipment installation, content management, signal routing, system integration, and technical execution while maintaining 3G Productions' service and quality standards.

The Senior Corporate A/V Technician reports to the Labor Department and works closely with project managers, engineers, warehouse personnel, freelance technicians, and event production teams to deliver reliable and professional audiovisual solutions. This position is expected to provide technical leadership on-site, support cross-functional event operations, and serve as a knowledgeable resource for both production crews and clients throughout all phases of event execution.

General Tasks / Duties

Below is a general list of the tasks and duties:

  • Conduct pre-production planning meetings with clients, project managers, and production teams to review technical requirements and show execution plans.
  • Install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot audiovisual equipment for trade shows, corporate events, live broadcasts, and executive presentations.
  • Program, operate, and maintain LED video wall systems, video switchers, media servers, and screen management equipment.
  • Configure and troubleshoot computer systems, networking equipment, touchscreen control systems, and related AV infrastructure.
  • Manage signal routing and system integration across LED walls, projection systems, monitors, and presentation systems.
  • Perform testing, quality control, and system verification to ensure equipment is functioning properly before and during events.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during load-in, rehearsal, show execution, and strike.
  • Provide basic audio support, including setup and troubleshooting of audio consoles, wireless microphone systems, and related equipment.
  • Lead and direct local crews, freelance technicians, and junior team members during event setup and execution.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to equipment configurations, system layouts, and event-specific technical requirements.
  • Follow company safety standards, operational procedures, and quality expectations.
  • Such other duties as may be determined and assigned by 3G.

Qualification and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in live event production, broadcast video engineering, corporate AV, or related technical environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of video signal routing and distribution, including SDI, HDMI, NDI, and related video standards.
  • Experience programming, operating, and troubleshooting LED video wall systems, processors, and display technologies.
  • Experience with video switchers, screen management systems, media servers, and content playback platforms.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including routers, network switches, IP addressing, subnets, and VLANs.
  • Proficiency with Windows and macOS operating systems and related AV control, presentation, and content management software.
  • Familiarity with drafting software and technical documentation programs preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in live event and client-facing environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, production teams, and technical personnel.
  • Ability to lead and direct crews, freelance technicians, and other support personnel.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and work safely around powered equipment.
  • Maintain professional conduct and positively represent 3G Productions at client sites and events.

Schedule / Hours of Work

  • Full-time position with no fixed weekly schedule; schedule varies based on show, event, production, and business needs.
  • Primary responsibility is to support shows and events on-site, with pre-planning meetings generally occurring during traditional office hours.
  • Travel is required and may vary by location and assignment; anticipated travel is approximately 70–90% based on business needs.
  • Must be flexible and available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, odd/long hours, and extended travel as needed to support event schedules.
  • 3G Productions strives to support work-life balance; however, this role requires flexibility due to the nature of live events and client-facing production work.
  • Compensation for hours worked will be administered in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws and Company policy.

Compensation / Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match of 5%
  • Paid time off and holiday schedule
