We are in search of a Senior Electrical Engineer that will be responsible for delivering technically sound, cost-effective, and compliant electrical designs for our parcel letter sorters. You will utilize your knowledge of power distribution, electrical components, and understanding of PLC programs to complete electrical designs for fully integrated systems. Taking ownership of projects, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support product development, manufacturing, installation, and ongoing system performance.
What You Will Do:

  • Support electrical and control system designs for automated sorting systems.
  • Redesign or replace obsolete or unmaintainable PCB and system components.
  • Debug and resolve electrical, PCB, and system-level performance issues.
  • Create and maintain assembly instructions, wiring documentation, and technical drawings.

Project & Operational Support
  • Estimate work effort and meet delivery deadlines while keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Work within quoted pricing proposals and cost constraints.
  • Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and operational challenges.
  • Manage and resolve escalated technical or operational issues.
  • Report project status, risks, and progress to Engineering and Project Managers.

Quality, Compliance & Documentation
  • Conduct and support quality assurance and functional testing to verify system performance.
  • Review and approve engineering work products, including drawings and design packages.
  • Maintain revision control and engineering data using ECN/ECO procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical, safety, and international standards (UL, CSA, NEC, IEC, CE).

Collaboration & Communication
  • Communicate effectively within engineering teams and across departments including Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations.
  • Provide technical feedback to support system functionality and performance decisions.
  • Support field installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting as needed.

What You Will Need:

  • 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering or related roles.
  • 3+ years of hands-on PCB design and debugging experience.

  • Familiarity with SYSPRO or similar ERP systems for BOM management.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley, Schneider, ABB, or Siemens control products.
  • Understanding of industrial networking protocols (Ethernet TCP/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus).
  • Experience with VFDs and motor control systems.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, UL508A, and industrial control panel standards.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Electrical or DraftSight.
