POSITION SPECIFICS
We are seeking a Computer Vision Engineer to join the Image Science and Computer Vision Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge computer vision systems. You will work on challenging projects that involve object detection, tracking, recognition, and scene understanding to create intelligent visual systems for applications in defense, law enforcement, security, disaster relief, human geography, disaster preparedness, and first response.
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
You will:
  • Develop, test, and report on computer vision algorithms to further understanding and capabilities of analytic tools
  • Combine multi-int source data with modeling capabilities that associate real world objects to known signatures and doctrines
  • Develop the ability to discover and capture information from geospatial data to better represent the most advanced understanding of world events, systems, and discrete entities
  • Grow career and capabilities, conduct applied research, provide technical guidance, report results, foster trusted relationships with sponsors, and advise on new and evolving technology and techniques
  • Engage in research efforts ranging from proof-of-concept through integrated production systems
  • Collaborate on programs as part of a team

Required skills/experience areas include:
  • Conduct experiments, analysis, and design or apply meaningful metrics to measure results
  • Computer programming in one or more of the following: Python, R, Java, C++, or Matlab
  • Ability to express yourself and ideas successfully to others in order to provide understanding

Preferred skills/experience areas include:
  • Work within DoD/IC Analysis or Operational environments
  • Git, open source scientific computation, computer vision, modeling, or machine learning tools
  • Work with high performance computing

Your work location will be fully on-site located in State College, PA but options exist for hybrid of on-site/work from home based on project-dependent ability. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

SALARY & BENEFITS
