Job description

Why This Role Is Critical

As the need for nuclear energy grows, the future couldn't be brighter. Join our vital mission to create lasting solutions for our planet's greatest challenges. In this role, you are ready to shape the future of clean energy and make a long-lasting global impact. With us, anticipate engaging and challenging projects that deliver innovative solutions and value-added technologies helping power more than 38 million North American homes.

In this role you will build and test autonomy and perception features to enhance teleoperated mobile robots for non-destructive inspection. The role blends handson software development with system integration while working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams. You'll own meaningful subsystems early on and gradually influence how future robots are designed, tested, and deployed.

What You'll Do Day-To-Day
  • Independently design, debug, test, and review robotics systems, including hardware-in-the-loop and sim-to-real environments.

  • Build, configure, and integrate subsystems responsible for sensor fusion, perception, and remote autonomous deployment.

  • Prototype and mature robot localization and state estimation, including visual-inertial odometry and SLAM.

  • Develop and tune trajectory planning solutions for mobile robots, leveraging cost maps, planners, and behavior trees.

  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to sensor integration, timing, frame inconsistencies, and system failures.

  • Over time, assume ownership of a specific application, including operational and strategic leadership, creating and defending system design, and technical leadership at the interface with internal and external partners.

  • Mentor less experienced software engineers.ย

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or aย related field. Equivalent workย experience may be considered in lieu of degree.ย
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in modern C++ or Python, and productive experience in the other.
  • Hands-on experience developing and deploying robotics software on Windows and Linux, using Git, CMake, package management, logging, profiling, and CI. Experience with ROS2 is strongly preferred, although not required.
  • Direct experience in mobile robotics and one or more of: robotic vision, state estimation and localization, sensor fusion.Other mechanical and electrical engineering experience, as relevant for robotics, is welcome, but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to change priorities quickly, confront issues directly and work well as part of a team.
Total Rewards Package
  • Salary: $85,000 - $116,000, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
  • Health & Wellness: Multiple medical plan options, dental & vision coverage, life insurance, long- and short-term disability, and optional supplemental plans (critical illness, accident, hospital indemnity, dependent life).
  • Retirement: 401(k) with employer match.
  • Paid Time Off: Up to 3 weeks of vacation, 8 sick days, and 13 paid holidays annually.
  • Extra Perks: Lifestyle spending account, employer paid mental health support, education reimbursement, professional development opportunities, adoption assistance, parental leave, and employee assistance programs.
