Job description

JOB INFORMATION Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon, seeks energetic and teaching-focused full-time Nursing faculty. Our Nursing Program has a strong tradition of preparing nurses to be life-long learners and to practice safely, accurately and compassionately in varied settings. Our faculty teach our nursing undergraduates to have clinical and professional excellence in response to the changing health care climate.

You will teach the attributes of accountability, caring, innovation, safety, social and cultural awareness, critical thinking and decision-making, life-long learning, and respect for the dignity and worth of human life. We believe in allowing a diverse group of students to have affordable nursing education. Chemeketa also understands that faculty applicants may be new to teaching and has created a wrap- around, comprehensive Nursing Educator Supported Transitions (NEST) program.

Your workload: Full time Nursing Instructors typically teach 20-22 hours per week in-person, with the remaining 13-15 hours as flexible to include office hours and department meetings. Teaching is fall, winter and spring terms, with summer term off. Nursing faculty are on break over the Winter holidays and between Winter and Spring term.

They also receive an additional 6 paid holidays: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, and the day after Thanksgiving. Please visit our academic calendar.

The successful candidate in this position will work on a 172-day contract, but be paid for 192-days, per the Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. Your Total Compensation Package: Starting salary is $77,286/per year for a 172-day contract with opportunities for step movement annually. Chemeketa currently covers up to 100% of health care premiums and includes dependent family member coverage.

In addition, qualifying employees will receive contributions to the Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS) as well as the opportunity to contribute to optional 403(b) and 457(b) deferred compensation plans. At this time, Chemeketa also has a grant to provide partial tuition reimbursement for a Masters in Nursing degree to allow Nursing Instructors to become fully credentialed.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor degree in Nursing -AND- Enrollment in a Master degree in nursing program -AND- Current unencumbered Oregon RN license -OR- eligible for Oregon Licensure (no investigation pending by any State Board of Nursing) -AND- Minimum of three years of full-time patient care experience at the registered nurse level -OR- Baccalaureate degree in nursing -AND- Master's or doctoral degree in a related field -AND- Current unencumbered Oregon RN license -OR- eligible for Oregon Licensure (no investigation pending by any State Board of Nursing) -AND- Minimum of three years of full-time patient care experience at the registered nurse level -OR- Master's degree in Nursing -AND- Current unencumbered Oregon RN license -OR- Eligible for Oregon Licensure (no investigation pending by any State Board of Nursing) -AND- Minimum of three years of full-time patient care experience at the registered nurse level Successful candidates working to obtain a Master's degree in Nursing may be eligible for partial reimbursement of educational expenses through the college's RENEW grant program.
