Job description


Columbia County Sanctuary Movement (CCSM) organizes with (im)migrants and allies to collectively support, empower, and defend our communities. The Rapid Response (RR) Coordinator plays a central role in coordinating the rapid response portion of our deportation defense programming. The RR Coordinator works to uphold the constitutional rights of our community and mitigate the harmful impacts of the immigration system.This position works closely with the Co-Executive Directors and collaborates across all departments.


CCSM is building a representative staff that contributes to leadership development within our community. We will provide training and mentorship to applicants who we believe would be a strong addition to our team but do not have all of the qualifications listed below.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for CCSM's RR network
  • Provide in person and remote support during alleged and actual immigration enforcement operations
  • Work with communications team to put out timely notifications of immigration enforcement activity
  • Manage CCSM's Emergency hotline, including triage and referrals
  • Vet and coordinate RR volunteers
  • Add new members to appropriate chats and track who is in which chats
  • Work with community members and CCSM staff to navigate detention support
  • Support Deportation Defense team with tracking transfers of detained members
  • Facilitate Rapid Response Trainings
  • Update training material as needed
  • Convene and facilitate monthly internal and multi-region RR meetings
  • Participate in CCSM's Safety and Security Team
  • Internal referrals to CCSM services
  • Routinely communicate with detained members and connect them to resources
  • Add funds to detained members' commissary accounts
  • Track commissary and provide monthly commissary reports
  • Track data about immigration enforcement operations and local/regional detentions
  • Create monthly reports on regional activity
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings and coordinating committee meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Commitment to CCSM's mission, immigrant communities, and principles of collective liberation
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) Speaker required
  • Directly impacted by the immigration system preferred
  • Previous experience working with (im)migrant communities or marginalized communities
  • Relationships with (im)migrant communities of Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Albany, Rensselaer Counties preferred
  • Residents of Columbia or Greene counties preferred
  • Comfortable in crisis situations required
  • Experience with De-escalation preferred
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Excellent project management skills (develop, plan, implement)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff and members with different experiences than your own
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple simultaneous projects
  • Willingness to work primarily in person when necessary and remote when optional
  • Valid driver's license, access to a car, and ability to travel
  • Take feedback well and have a learning mindset

Terms of Employment


This is a full-time, in-person position (approximately 40 hours per week) based primarily at CCSM's Hudson, NY office. The starting salary is $59,779. This position is contingent on grant funding.
