Job description

Voyago is hiring a Full-Time Driver - Mobile Breast Screening Clinic Bus to fill a new open position for our Hamilton Region!

Your Role
Reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor, the Driver is responsible for the safe operation of the Voyago Transdev Ontario vehicle while providing safe, reliable and accessible transit services to the communities and riders we serve. The Driver must also provide exceptional customer service.

Safe Operation of vehicles - 70%

  • Ensure that at all times customer safety remains paramount.
  • At all times follow Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) and abide by company training.
  • To complete all paperwork, including ridership, accurately and legibly and return it to base at the end of a shift.
  • Carry out informal and formal risk assessments to assess hazards, then implement safe systems of work and reduce risks to yourself, clients and other persons involved.
  • Ensure that safe work practices are being followed, and report any infractions to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Immediately reports to dispatch any injuries, collisions or property damage that occurs.
  • Ensure compliance to established routes and schedule

Compliance - 10%

  • Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed according to current policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean Driver's Abstract.
  • Performs a circle check to company specification prior to starting a shift.
  • Follows procedures and complete related paperwork for reporting mechanical defects

Customer Service - 10%

  • Develops and maintains a positive working relationship and team approach with clients, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Rendering first aid in the event of an emergency on board the vehicle.

Continuous Development - 10%

  • Attend annual driver safety meetings.
  • Attends all the mandatory training provided by the Company.
  • Complete training that includes driving practice and time in a classroom

Requirements

Your Profile

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement)
  • Minimum of 3 years of driving experience
  • Valid BZ or CZ driver's license
  • You have the ability to lift 250+ lbs. using a stretcher or stair chair with partner
  • You can effectively communicate in both verbal and written English
  • You have a valid First Responder Certification OR AEMCA, OR are working towards a Paramedic Diploma (must be finished year 1) OR are a Firefighter with Emergency Medical Responder Certification.
  • You have Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent
  • You are a safe driver with a clean driving record
  • You can obtain a clean criminal record search and/or vulnerable sector screening
  • You have up to date immunization records and can provide the following records of: MMR, DPT, Polio, Varicella, Hepatitis B, COVID-19 (2 doses), *TB Skin Test (Step 1) *must be valid within last 12 months
  • You can effectively communicate in both verbal and written English
  • You are a safe driver with a clean driving record
  • You can obtain a clean criminal record search and/or vulnerable sector screening
  • Knowledge of traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations

Additional Information

  • The vehicle will be based out of our Stoney Creek NEMT location.
  • Regular schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Some flexibility in working hours may be required, as schedules are determined by Hamilton Health Sciences.
  • The wage rate is $23.00 per hour.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed inside the vehicle the majority of the time (approximately 90%).
  • Work is occasionally performed outside in the yard, with exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat and cold (approximately 10% of the time).
