Full Time Paraprofessional/Teacher's Aide  

Job Description: 
Assists the supervising teacher(s) in providing instruction and support to special education students PreK - 8.  Must be self-motivated, flexible, compassionate, and professional. 
The successful applicant will need to be able to meet the following performance factors:


       Dependability/Reliability Flexibility Punctuality Problem Solving Interpersonal Relations Communication Skills Discusses assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts Prepares lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations as needed Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods Tutors and assists children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers Supervises students effectively Enforces policies and rules governing students Grades homework and tests, and computes and records results, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices. Teaches socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement. Works with students with multiple physical, mental, and developmental disabilities. Is familiar with and uses adaptive equipment including, communication equipment, wheel chairs, adaptive feeding tools, etc. Assists students with self-care, hygiene, and feeding as necessary. Assists with tasks that students are not able to do, i.e. taking notes, handling materials, holding books, etc. Works with/handle resistive students effectively Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students Assists the classroom teacher in tasks necessary in maintaining a professional and positive classroom environment, and performs other duties as may be assigned       
 
Qualifications:
Must have current Illinois paraprofessional license or professional educator license.

*Professional educator license preferred.
