Must currently be employed as an Armed Security Officer within Department 615-000 to be eligible to apply.

Field Training Officer

As the Rancheria Security Field Training Officer (FTO), primary responsibilities include training new Rancheria Security Officers and Armed Officers.  

Security Sergeant

Under direction from the Rancheria Security Manager, the Security Sergeant provides supervision and training for an assigned shift or unit of the Rancheria Security department. The Security Sergeants protect and patrol Tribal properties and provides a safe environment for Tribal Members, employees and guests.

Responsibilities

Field Training Officer

$23.00/Hr. - $29.90/Hr.

  • Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by creating a friendly environment and following Jackson Rancheria Guest Service Guidelines.
  • Provide proper training, information, and direction to newly hired Rancheria Security Officers and Armed Officers.
  • Monitor, evaluate and document the development of probationary employees (OIT's) through the use of Weekly Observation Reports.
  • Consult with department supervisors on the development of new hires through weekly feedback.
  • Stay current on all changes to job and training requirements.
  • Train new officers on Jackson Rancheria and departmental policies and procedures.
  • The Armed Officer/FTO is tri-rated as a Security Sergeant.

Security Sergeant

$28.00/Hr. - $36.40/Hr.

  • Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by creating a friendly environment and following Jackson Rancheria Guest Service Guidelines.
  •  Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of an assigned shift or unit of Rancheria Security Officers; provides training and work evaluations for assigned personnel.
  • Ensures that staff assignments are conducted in accordance with departmental rules and regulations.
  • Ensures proper use of department equipment.
  • Assists with calls for the protection of life and property.
  • Responds to emergency alarms.
  • Reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate authority.
  • Interviews victims, complainants, and witnesses and observes and reacts to suspected illegal activity.
  • Carefully observe incidents and situations, accurately remembering names, faces, numbers, circumstances, and places.
  • Cooperates with law enforcement agencies in the apprehension of criminals and suspects.
  • May establish and maintain record and identification systems.
  • May search, collect and preserve evidence from crime scenes, obtaining samples for laboratory identification.
  • May locate and question suspects.
  • May make arrests and search for and seize criminal evidence.
  • Prepares evidence and reports of investigations and arrests.
  • May conduct shift briefings and assign patrol staff to coverage areas.
  • Reviews, approves/rejects, and routes incident and crime reports.
  • May handle citizen complaints and preliminary stages of internal affairs investigations.
  • Conducts research and assists with drafting departmental policies and procedures.
  • When required assists local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and emergency services.
  • Make independent judgments and adopt quick, effective, and responsible courses of action during emergencies.
  • Effectively represent the Rancheria Security Department in contacts with the public and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Keeps firearms and other equipment in good working condition.
  • May serve as a personal bodyguard to Tribal Members
Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must currently be an Armed Security Officer - Following the standards established by the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Service (BSIS), all armed positions require that the employee/applicant pass a firearms course at the Sacramento Security Training Center (SSTC) and present a BSIS Exposed Firearms Certification confirming the completion and passing of the Psychological Profile Test.
  • Two years of experience in professional law enforcement or security work or combination of training and experience.
  •  Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ca. Class C Drivers license required - Must be vehicle insurable through JRCR's Agent.

*Shift Differential: Non-Exempt employees will receive a $1.00 per hour shift differential for any hours worked between 10:00pm and 6:00am.

This is not a smoke free workplace.  Although we employ state-of-the-art air filtration systems, cigarette smoke is in the work environment.
