As of Jun 9, 2026, the average yearly pay for full time blacksmith in the United States is $50,508.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $38,000.00 and $70,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by full-time blacksmiths, and how can they be addressed?

Full-time blacksmiths often encounter challenges such as repetitive physical strain, exposure to high temperatures, and the need to maintain consistent quality in handcrafted products. Managing these issues involves using proper safety gear, taking regular breaks to prevent fatigue, and continuously refining techniques to ensure precision in metalwork. Collaboration with other artisans or apprentices can also help share the workload and foster skill development, making the work environment both safer and more productive.

What does a full time blacksmith do?

A full time blacksmith is a skilled craftsman who works primarily with metals, especially iron and steel, to create, repair, or maintain items such as tools, hardware, decorative pieces, and sometimes custom commissions. They use techniques like forging, welding, and shaping metal by heating it in a forge and hammering it on an anvil. Blacksmiths may work in modern workshops, historical reenactments, or for custom manufacturing. The role often requires creativity, physical strength, and attention to detail. Full time blacksmiths may also interact with customers and manage their own businesses.

Why You'll Love Being Here
We like to think of ourselves as the "better place to build your PT career," and here's why:
  • Mentorship & Onboarding: Regardless of years of experience, all clinicians are offered a structured onboarding and mentorship program led by trained, hand-selected mentors
  • Endless Growth: Multiple specialty/residency programs, a packed CEU calendar, national clinical collaboration, an internal business school, leadership development, CI/Mentor opportunities, a clinical career ladder, and non-clinical career pathways.
  • Unique Opportunities: Dream of opening your own PT practice? We can help you do that-with equity. Want to travel? We have an internal travel program, too!
  • Effortless Documentation: With our partnership with Ambient Notes (an AI documentation tool), clinicians can expect to reduce their normal documentation time by up to 60%, allowing them to spend more time with patients and keeping their work AT work.
  • Bi-Weekly Bonus Plan: Earn a bonus structure that YOU control-not based on your clinic's revenue.
  • Manageable Caseloads: We believe in aligning with regional outpatient benchmarks, and we're proud to offer caseloads that are lower than many of our local competitors. This means you'll have more time to focus on each patient's unique needs, resulting in better outcomes and a more fulfilling workday.
  • Flexible Schedules: We know outpatient ortho has a reputation for long, unpredictable hours, but we work hard to support our clinicians and create schedules that work for both them and their patients.
