The Challenge (Job Summary):

As an Audiology Assistant, you will provide support services to Audiologists and customer service for audiology patients. Work is performed in accordance with NOMS policies and procedures/applicable federal and state laws.  Effective performance requires independent action under general supervision.

You’ll get to:

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Complies with HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Scheduling all “audio only” and “hearing aid” patients.
  • Answering audiology phone calls and scheduling initial and follow up appointments.
  • Preparing next day tickets/charts and assuring all appropriate information (audiogram, insurance) has been received.
  • Preparing all charts and necessary information required for new audiology patients.
  • Follow up with patients on hearing aid benefits.
  • General typing, coping, faxing and filing information for physicians.
  • Update hearing aid client database, audiology referral database, Medicaid client battery list and hearing aid battery list.
  • Receive payments for hearing aids/swim plugs.
  • Check status of Medicaid PA for hearing aid patients.

What you need to succeed:

  • Knowledge of patient account policies and practices of NOMS
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to organize and process work efficiently.
  • Knowledge of computer programs and applications
  • Ability to independently assume other responsibilities in addition to routine duties.
  • Must be a team player and self-motivator.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Typing ability and Word processing/computer skills

Working Conditions & Physical Demands: The work environment is well-lit, well-ventilated, and designed for comfort and efficiency. This position requires sitting for extended periods, as well as occasional stooping, bending, or reaching. The ideal candidate must be able to view computer screens for long durations and work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative office setting. For patient care–related roles, the position may also require standing for long periods and the ability to lift or assist patients, medical equipment, or supplies — generally up to 25–50 pounds, as needed to support safe and effective care.
