Audio Engineer
Pay Details:
The starting hourly rate range for this position is $38.00 to $44.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will take internal value, peer equity, job-related factors, and other organizational considerations into account.
The Audio Engineer provides an exceptional audio experience for all Honda Center events, including Anaheim Ducks games, concerts, and other events or meetings as needed. This position serves as the primary mix board operator for the majority of sports and other events, as needed, and oversees the operation, maintenance, inventory, and repair of all arena sound systems, both interior and exterior, including arena intercom systems. The Audio Engineer also sets, operates, and strikes audio equipment for internal and external events.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with managing and overseeing the Riedel intercom system
  • Work closely with event vendors and TV broadcast trucks to ensure all audio and communications needs are met
  • Work with internal Production and Building Operations departments on repairs and maintenance of audio infrastructure
  • Work closely with supervisor to manage scheduling of A1 and A2 technicians for all events
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve operational problems, complaints, and emergency repairs in a timely and efficient manner
  • Listen to audio mix while taking directions/cues simultaneously
  • Assist with arena and site RF coordination, including Wireless Workbench
  • Assist all internal departments, vendors, and clients as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience operating entertainment audio systems in a multipurpose sports arena or similar sports and entertainment environment
  • Experience with Yamaha CL5 digital mixing console or equivalent
  • Experience with Dante, MADI, Q-SYS, Riedel communications systems, and Evertz routers preferred
  • Experience with RF coordination, including Wireless Workbench, preferred
  • Experience with emergency and HOH/assistive listening announcement systems preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of entertainment sound systems, signal flow, audio routing, and audio path capabilities
  • Knowledge of IP and network topology
  • Knowledge of current audio trends, technology, and best practices, including speaker placement, microphones, and related equipment
  • Proficiency with inventory management and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Able to install audio interfaces and route audio efficiently
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced live event environment while monitoring audio mix and taking directions/cues simultaneously
  • Able to take direction and work effectively with internal departments, vendors, clients, and broadcast partners
  • Able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, including standing, sitting, bending, working with arms raised, walking on concrete and uneven surfaces, and repeatedly lifting up to 50 lbs. throughout a shift
  • Able to climb portable and fixed ladders and occasionally work at heights above 10 ft
  • Comfortable working in changing environmental conditions, including arena, ice, and outdoor settings with exposure to bright lights, loud noise, inclement weather, and dust
  • Able to work non-traditional hours, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, split shifts, late nights, and overnight shifts
