Audio Systems Engineering  Summer Intern

Position Summary

This is an intern position for an engineering student who’s interested in becoming a software and systems engineer in the field of Audio and Acoustics. We are looking for a current engineeirng student to work full time in our Hillsboro, Oregon office as a part of our summer 2027 internship program.

Your role will be within our SOC and systems applications teams. You will be working on the analysis of a variety of audio and acoustic systems. You will interface with other engineering teams within the business unit, including our chip/SOC development team, our software development team, our wireless team, and our AI neural network development team.

Required Experience and Skills
  • Must be enrolled in an engineering or science education program.
  • Commitment to work onsite for 3 months (May/June - August 2027)
  • Experience using test equipment such as oscilloscope, DMM, DC power supplies, etc.
  • Ability to program in Python, C, C++
  • Understanding of audio systems
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing fundamentals
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel and Word) and have an aptitude for quickly learning other company-specific software.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and love challenges. Ability to take ownership and ask for help when needed.
  • Good communication, organization, and documentation skills 
Desired Experience and Skills

•   Hands-on experience of audio measurement tools and equipment, microphones, mixers, etc.

•   Developing software for automating audio tests.

•   Experience with the principals of acoustics.

•   Experience with soldering SMT components.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
