About the RN (Registered Nurse) role
The primary purpose of the Registered Nurse (RN) position is to be accountable for the delivery of safe, effective, and therapeutic resident care from admission through discharge, in collaboration with the physician, family, and interdisciplinary healthcare team. This day shift RN role is ideal for nurses who enjoy coordinating care, communicating with families, and leading the team in a skilled nursing facility and long-term care environment.

Responsibilities of the RN (Registered Nurse)

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents according to the resident’s plan of care, including medication administration, assessments, wound care, and documentation

  • Monitor residents’ conditions throughout the day and promptly notify the physician and appropriate team members of any changes

  • Supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by Nursing Assistants and support staff

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to plan and implement resident-centered care

  • Communicate with residents and families to provide education, updates, and support

  • Ensure compliance with facility policies as well as state, federal, and regulatory requirements for long-term care and skilled nursing

Mandatory qualifications for RN (Registered Nurse)

  • Nursing degree from an accredited program or college/university

  • Current, unencumbered, active Ohio RN (Registered Nurse) license or multi-state license

  • Current CPR certification

Skills and qualities of an RN (Registered Nurse)

  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, including long-term care and skilled nursing regulations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong critical thinking abilities

  • Ability to deal tactfully and professionally with an interdisciplinary team, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
