Job description

Change the world. Love your job.
We are looking for a capable Software Applications Engineer who is passionate about embedded systems and thrives in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will work with a competent and collaborative team as you develop, design, and debug embedded software solutions. This role will require you to work across the lifecycle of a software product, from aligning with stakeholders on requirements, to design, implementation, validation, and then release to ti.com.
Your ability to develop software products while prioritizing the customer's user experience will be key to your success. It will be vital for you to work effectively with cross-functional teams and adapt to evolving challenges. You will be great for this role if you thrive in a collaborative setting and are eager to contribute to cutting-edge projects.
What you'll do:
  • Support wireless connectivity customers throughout their evaluation, development and production cycles.
  • Build embedded application software integrating peripheral interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO) and wireless protocol stacks to deliver customer demos and reference solutions.
  • Create demos and reference solutions leveraging IEEE 802.15.4-based wireless protocol stacks (Zigbee, Thread, Matter, Proprietary RF) to accelerate customer evaluation and production development
  • Write clean and scalable code that meets functional and non-functional requirements, with a focus on simplicity, readability, and maintainability
  • Design software solutions with a test-driven development approach to validate functionality, ensure code coverage, and drive continuous improvement
  • Define and own software products, from planning, requirements gathering, development, testing, and release
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on software strategy and customer needs
  • Debug and address software issues during development and in production systems to support customers
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and promote best practices and coding standards

What we're looking for:
  • The ability to drive engineering excellence and exercise technical maturity. Advance conversations and execution even when the right thing is unclear, ambiguous, or unknown
  • Comfortable operating at the hardware/software boundary. Able to read schematics, reference datasheets, and trace bugs across peripheral interfaces, RTOS, and protocol stacks
  • A proven track record of shipping or solving hard problems
  • Brings new ideas for product innovation and helps improve software development processes
  • Organized, informed, and effective communicator for collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving alignment with stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, accountable team player that takes initiative and can work effectively and accurately in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery

Texas Instruments will not sponsor job applicants for visas or work authorization for this position.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, Computer Engineering or related field of study
  • 1+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • 1+ years of experience with C (Programming Language)
  • Familiarity with wireless communication protocols

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experienced in hands-on development and debugging microcontroller applications
  • Experienced in defining & executing project plans for embedded software components
  • Experienced in software test methodologies for embedded applications
  • Experience working with and debugging serial peripheral interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO) in embedded application code
  • Experience with IEEE 802.15.4-based protocols (Zigbee, Thread, Matter, or Proprietary RF) at the application or stack integration level
  • Familiarity with a real-time operating system such as FreeRTOS
  • Familiarity with TI SimpleLink SDK, CCS IDE, or similar embedded development toolchain
  • Experience using hardware debug tools (JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) to diagnose embedded software issues
