Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Designing, developing, and managing project-specific relational database applications using enterprise (MS SQL Server, EQuIS) database software;
  • Developing comprehensive workflows and metadata to automate compilation of data from multiple sources and serve data to maps, reports, and other tools;
  • Managing and organizing datasets for the entire lifecycle of environmental data, from planning to final reporting activities,
  • Providing QA/QC on data, systems, and processes related to environmental data,
  • Compiling, verifying, analyzing, and reporting large and diverse datasets;
  • Interacting with internal and external providers (laboratories, consultants, agencies, etc.) to coordinate collection and transfer of data to project databases;
  • Collection, manipulation, querying, and analysis of databases and environmental analytical and geospatial data;
  • Interacting with internal and external clients to support database management and data visualization for environmental, engineering, and geoscience projects.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, geography, computer science, engineering, or geology. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental science, chemistry, geography, computer science, engineering, or geology. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 (7+ preferred) years of technical training and experience in relational database technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with database management and building ETL processes. (required)
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and MS Access, including the ability to write complex formulas and visualize data effectively. (required)
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries and automate routine processes. (required)
  • Exceptional attention to detail in quantitative work products, written communication, spelling, and grammar. (required)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, including the ability to automate processes (preferred). 
  • Proficiency with EarthSoft's EQuIS environmental data management platform (preferred)
  • Ability to automate processes using scripts (e.g., Python, R). (preferred)
  • Direct experience managing environmental, geologic, and geotechnical data collection. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of laboratory analytical data verification and validation processes. (preferred)
  • Experience submitting data to-and obtaining data from-agency and government databases (e.g., CA Water Boards Geotracker, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, NIRIS, ERPIMS, CEDEN) (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $97,255 /year / Maximum Salary: $145,940 /year (San Diego, Santa Barbara, Ventura, CA)
  • Minimum Salary: $92,835 /year / Maximum Salary: $139,310 /year (Colorado)
