SANITATION TECHNICIAN - 3rd Shift


SHORT DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for maintaining the production room, keeping the warehouse area clean, sweeping, and overseeing the waste management of these areas. This position also includes sanitation tasks, dishwashing duties, working with chemicals, housekeeping-janitorial duties, restroom cleaning, exterior cleaning, and PPE use. The right candidate must be detail oriented and organized and make food safety, general safety, and sanitation a top priority. This position requires employees to stand up for long periods of time, work in a wet environment, moving and lift machinery or equipment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a multitasking sanitation techinician position. To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be familiar with sanitation practices, understand the proper use of sanitation and cleaning chemicals, and adhere to the chemical list approved by the Sanitation Manager. Following the current standard sanitation operating procedures (SSOP), the use of Personal protective equipment (PPE) and other policies are applicable to provide the best service to the production and warehouse team. The sanitation employee must be proactive, motivated, and communicate opportunities for improvement to the team. Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for allergen cleanings of automated production lines (cereal and chocolate), including through cleaning and sanitizing of all food contact surface (FCS) equipment and machinery.

• Ensure compliance with ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) testing, and allergen testing procedures; re-clean and sanitize equipment as needed to meet standards.

• Prevent cross-contamination by avoiding contact between non-food contact surfaces (NFCS) and food contact surfaces (FCS).

• Protect already-sanitized equipment, machinery, and conveyor belts from recontamination through proper handling and adherence to sanitation procedures.

• Demonstrate full knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing methodologies, including the Seven Steps of Cleaning, and proper chemical use.

• Perform visual inspections to verify the effectiveness of cleaning and sanitation procedures.

• Ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with SSOP’s, SOP’s, work instructions, regulatory requirements, and customer-SQF (Safe quality foods) standards.

• Execute sanitation procedures for both short and long flavor changeovers on the cereal and chocolate production lines.

• Maintain cleanliness in waste management areas, including dumpster zones, recycling containers, and facility grounds.

• Supervise the deliming process for the dishwashing machine and monitor the chemical dilution system. Prepare peracetic acid sanitizer as needed.

• Operate the auto floor scrubber to clean the production, wash bay, and warehouse floor.

• Empty trash cans and containers daily.

• Safely lift and move equipment or machinery to allow for proper cleaning and sanitizing.

• Clean and sanitize all machinery, buckets, utensils, racks, and related equipment daily in the wash bay or using the dishwashing machine.

• Maintain the wash bay area in a clean and sanitary condition, including floors, racks, and dish machine.

• Conduct routine chemical concentration checks to ensure proper sanitation levels are maintained.

• Perform general housekeeping duties, including cleaning GMP rooms, breakrooms, and restrooms.

• Maintain inventory and organization of supplies, track Cintas and internal supply levels. Keep the chemical cage clean and organized.

• Serve as a backup of the Sanitation worker employees as needed.

• May clean other areas of the facility as required.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

• Over 2 years of hands-on experience in sanitation in a food manufacturing (FDA–USDA) facility.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as Safety data sheets (SDS) and paper checks.

• Ability to complete food-ready sanitation tasks on a tablet device.

• Ability to complete basic sanitation checks.

• Ability to read, write and complete forms and sanitation records.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
