Job description

Do you want to design and scale robotic hardware systems with global impact.
The Vulcan Stow Hardware Team at Amazon Robotics builds high-performance robotic manipulation systems that stow millions of items alongside humans-at Amazon scale. We invent, build, and deploy electromechanical systems including end-of-arm tools, workcells, induct stations, and perception hardware that enable robots to interact safely and efficiently with the clutter and uncertainty of real-world fulfillment centers.

Our team specializes in mechanism design, automation, and scaling robotic systems.
We are seeking a hands-on Hardware Development Manager to lead a team of engineers as we scale Vulcan Stow from initial deployments into a worldwide fleet. You will own hardware delivery across design, build, test, and production cycles-driving technical decisions that determine system cost, reliability, and performance at scale. Collaborating with cross-functional teams across controls, perception, motion planning, and fulfillment operations, you will deliver hardware systems that are ready for volume manufacturing and global deployment.
Key job responsibilities
- As a manager, you will be responsible for delivering and scaling critical robotic hardware across the fulfillment network.
- You will recruit, retain, and develop top talent-motivating and coaching a diverse team through day-to-day people and performance management.
- You will keep your technical skills current to drive hardware through production releases, owning DFX (cost, manufacturing, assembly) trade-offs that enable volume scaling.
- Regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify root cause of hardware failures and corrective actions.
- Set a vision for your team and create hardware roadmaps that balance reliability, cost reduction, and next-generation capability development as the program grows.
- You will partner closely with controls, perception, software, and motion planning teams to drive cross-domain integration and ensure hardware decisions align with full-system performance
