Amazon Robotics is located in the greater Boston area, the epicenter of robotics innovation. Our diverse team of engineers come from all over the world to design, test and build our dynamic fleet of robots and mechatronic systems. Having our offices, labs, test floors and factories all co-located means that we can design the hardware, write the code, test, build and watch it all come to life. This allows us to innovate quickly and on limitless ideas. Current advancements are underway in autonomous movement and mobility, artificial intelligence and machine learning, manipulation, simulation, robotic management software, predictive analytics, and much more.
The Amazon Robotics Manager III, Safety will be responsible for executing company safety, environmental, and health affairs and ensuring compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. This individual will provide multi-site EHS oversight across BOS12, BOS33, and BOS38 - coordinating safety coverage, regulatory compliance, and contractor resources across co-located and satellite facilities. This role directly manages a blended team of Amazon and third-party contractor resources, providing safety direction and coordination across multiple shifts and sites.
This individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce occupational risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for Amazon Robotics employees. The Manager III, Safety will develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and standards ensuring alignment with Amazon Safety Policies and regulatory requirements. This role will partner with RMTO manufacturing operations leadership to integrate safety into production workflows and leverage digital EHS platforms to drive data-driven safety operations.
The Manager III, Safety must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing to executive level audiences. This individual must instruct and train employees in company safety policies and advocate safety standards. The Manager III, Safety will be required to identify best practices and incorporate these best practices into our standards to continuously improve company safety policies. They will be required to possess excellent safety program and relevant safety, environmental and ergonomic knowledge and demonstrates this expertise.
Key job responsibilities
- Drive 100% OSHA compliance across BOS12, BOS33, and BOS38 through guidance, oversight, and enforcement of Amazon Safety Policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage a blended team of Amazon FTE and third-party contractor safety specialists - coordinating shift coverage and resource deployment across BOS12, BOS33, and BOS38.
- Provide multi-site EHS oversight - including compliance monitoring and cross-facility program alignment.
- Develop and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and standards aligned with Amazon Safety Policies and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with manufacturing operations leadership to integrate safety into production workflows, equipment qualification, and facility change management. Serve as primary EHS liaison to engineering, operations, and facilities teams.
- Leverage EHS technology platforms to drive 100% digitization of safety inspections, audits, and reporting.
- Support ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 implementation.
- Manage regulatory reporting - including hazardous waste manifests, OSHA logs, and Tier II submittals.
- Analyze weekly and monthly incident metrics to identify trends and direct corrective actions to highest-risk areas.
- Oversee incident and injury response - including onsite first aid/medical care, incident investigation, root cause analysis, and return-to-work accommodations - ensuring timely resolution and regulatory compliance.
- Audit recordkeeping, safety databases, workplace conditions, and employee behaviors - validating compliance, training effectiveness, and scoring accuracy.
- Lead and coordinate emergency evacuation, medical, and safety drills.
- Recommend process and product safety features to reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
- Up to 10% travel required.

About the team
The Amazon Robotics (AR) Technology Enablement Services (TES) Team enables AR's people, purpose, and place to deliver the future. We remove barriers, drive organizational productivity, and foster growth. We serve AR leadership, product customers, and employees, and collaborate with teams throughout FTR. Creating a safe, inclusive, and productive workplace experience. Designing and iterating on learning, development, and engagement solutions to support needs of operators and employees. Synthesizing and articulating AR's long-term strategy, near-term goals, product roadmaps, and workforce strategy. Developing and managing cross organizational mechanisms, reporting, programs, and Sustainability efforts.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental, or equivalent, or 5+ years of Amazon experience
- Experience with increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
- Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- Current CSP (Certified Safety Professional).
- Experience representing the safety function to cross-functional stakeholders including manufacturing operations, engineering, and executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and confidence with manufacturing, engineering, and corporate teams to influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Health and Safety or a related field
- Experience in a distribution center or manufacturing EHS with mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people
- Experience working with ISO standards
- Current RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) and Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials certifications.
- Experience coordinating third-party contractor safety resources in a blended 1P/3P team environment.
- Experience with digital safety management platforms and data-driven safety programs
