Graduate Assistant-Full time (20 hours per week) 7 positions available
Description of GA Assignment
GA: Faculty Support - Assist faculty, services may include tasks as supervising laboratories under their supervision; grading quizzes, homework, and other projects; and assist with other course and research related duties as assigned.
Job Description Summary
• Provide one-on-one academic tutoring to teach and reteach concepts to H.E.L.P. students
• Offer assistance with developing study strategies
• Work with students to develop a plan that fits the student's individual needs
• Assist students in developing a schedule for study sessions
• Clarify/augment student notes from lecture
• Teach concepts using multi-sensory techniques to maximize student understanding and recall
• Teach organization and time managements skills
• Monitor students' progress through communication with students and professors
• Send legal notification to professors regarding students' with disabilities and accommodations
• Organize and facilitate testing accommodations according to students' diagnosis for compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act and Vocational Rehabilitation Act
• Proctor exams under the supervision of staff monitor
• Maintain student attendance records
• Notify students and parents regarding students' absences from tutoring sessions
• Write End of Semester Reports for each student
• Participate in weekly tutor training and development sessions
