Telecommunications Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Hyper Networks,. is seeking a full time Engineer to complete designs that connect commercial buildings, multi-tenant structures, and stand alone buildings to our clients’ network services. This position reports to the Director of Engineering.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Prepares and revises site drawings in 2D CAD software, including AutoCAD.

  • Utilizes GIS software to research fiber networks and plan for future deployment.

  • Maintains project drawings and related documents in internal file directory.

  • Interprets site photos, maps, preliminary drawings, and additional documents to create clear and concise designs.

  • Completes designs within deadlines and with minimal supervision.

  • May prepare iBwave design for FTTP, to include, but not limited to: Multi-dwelling units, retail strip malls, campus buildings, etc.

  • May conduct local field surveys and tech walks.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • Work with a team of drafters and designers under the supervision of a Project Manager or Professional Engineer to create permit drawings for wireless tower sites

  • Has a functioning understanding of telecom A&E processes and deliverables

  • Ability to read as-built drawings from previous projects to incorporate data into new plans

  • Is able to conform to internal QA/QC procedures and standards

  • Must have working knowledge of carrier equipment and installation practices

  • Create engineering designs that will be used to build fiber networks for commercial buildings, multi-tenant structures, and stand alone buildings

  • Ensures quality and compliance to Hyper Networks’ and our client's procedures & specifications

  • Reviews project schedules and client requests to ensure timely deliverables

  • Reviews maps, plans, and blueprints as necessary for drafting in a high volume construction schedule

  • Recommend alternatives to improve processes and operations

  • Prepares, maintains, and presents design packages

  • Maintains knowledge of all organizational policies and governmental laws and/or regulations affecting surveys and designs

  • Prepares and submits daily progress reports to manager

  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Strong drafting background utilizing AutoCAD, 3GIS, Focus, Bently, ArcGIS, Bluebeam Revu, or other equivalent design software

  • Experience interpreting Telecom construction blueprints and as-builds

  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, contractors, and clients in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner

  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision making

  • Critical thinking and complex problem solving

  • Reporting and prioritizing workloads

  • Handling multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Maintaining organized and accurate records

  • Working independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong knowledge of Google Earth and MS Office Suite or equivalent software such as Google Docs and Sheets

  • Knowledge of basic mathematics

  • Sit, bend, squat, kneel, and stand frequently

  • Lifting 40-60 lbs and occasionally up to 80 lbs

  • Ability to work in a dynamic fluid environment and effectively cope with change

  • Must be able to pass background and drug screen


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering/Electronics preferred, or equivalent Drafting/engineering training and experience

  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record

  • 5+ years experience utilizing aforementioned design tools

  • Experience with fiber optic products and services required
