1ST CLASS POWER ENGINEER

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Consisting of four locations—the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,400 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more. JBS Ontario in Belleville produces fresh meat and seafood products for leading retailers in Canada.

NOTE: This role will be located in BROOKS, AB

RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE

YOU WILL:

  • Ensure total care and control of the Boiler Room and associate ancillary equipment;
  • Ensure total care and control of a large ammonia refrigerated plant
  • Ensure daily plant inspection of ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems and that all systems are operating in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Ensure the recording of data and all relevant information to the operation of the plant under the Chief Engineer’s jurisdiction;
  • Have a bias for action to reduce energy consumption be it gas, electricity, water, and ammonia usage;
  • Undertake capital projects to improve operating performance of the plant in consultation with the Maintenance Manager;
  • Provide leadership by instilling safety, objectives, and measurements;
  • Conduct detailed diagnostic audits of each plant using various processes and techniques and provides coaching and direction to the plant’s management team;
  • Take on additional responsibilities as position requires.

YOU HAVE:

  • Valid (ABSA Certified) 1st Class Engineering certificate;
  • Proven team leader, team player, committed to excellence, and positive attitude;
  • 4-5 years of experience in a managerial position;
  • Knowledge of governmental and regulatory agencies;
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience and strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Complete Knowledge of Ammonia refrigeration systems and natural gas fired steam boiler systems;
  • Familiarity of system computer interfacing;
  • Knowledge of PLC systems;
  • Past experience working in a preventative maintenance program;
  • Ability to ensure safe and efficient operations of boiler plant and large ammonia refrigeration system.
