Their expertise allows them to work on entire projects from start to finish, making them versatile and valuable team members. Full Stack Developers typically use a variety of programming languages and frameworks to accomplish their tasks.

How do full stack software developers typically balance front-end and back-end responsibilities within a team?

Job description

About SafeLease
At SafeLease, we're rethinking how P&C insurance is sold in an age of technological change. We believe the industry's biggest inefficiencies aren't technical problems - they're structural ones. And we're building the team to tackle them.
SafeLease is a profitable insurance business that designs, underwrites, and distributes specialty coverage for commercial property owners and their tenants. Most insurance companies either distribute products or bear the risk - we do both. We back our policies with our own capital, which means we control the full stack: product design, tech, and the speed at which we move. That end-to-end ownership lets us offer customers real flexibility, saving time and money for more than 4,000 properties insured for billions in value nationwide.
We're a team of 85, growing over 100% annually, and we've done it without sacrificing profitability or culture. Here, you'll get high discretion and a wide aperture of problems to solve. We embrace the newest technologies, move fast together, and operate with the intensity of a small company where every person's work is visible. If you're looking for a place to sharpen your craft alongside people who take their work seriously, you'll fit right in.
SafeLease is looking for a driven Full Stack Engineer. In this role, you'll work across the entire stack building, testing, and shipping features. You'll collaborate closely with company leadership, playing a key role in solving high-impact technical challenges and shaping the future of our platform.
About The Role
To drive our mission forward, this role will:
  • Contribute across the stack - Write clean, maintainable code across our platform with a focus on reliability, performance, and simplicity
  • Build customer-facing features - Collaborate with Product and Design to create intuitive, user-first functionality
  • Tackle technical challenges - Help debug issues, improve code quality, and strengthen system reliability
  • Focus on growth and learning - Take ownership of your work while being open to feedback and opportunities to grow as an engineer
  • Work collaboratively - Participate in code reviews, planning sessions, and team discussions to build shared understanding and alignment
  • Embrace iteration and improvement - Contribute ideas that help us move faster, build smarter, and work better as a team
About You
You're a curious and resourceful builder who enjoys solving real-world problems through code. You're eager to grow your technical skills, collaborate with others, and contribute to a fast-paced, mission-driven team.
Your experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in full-stack software development with exposure to shipping real-world applications
  • Background in CS/EE, a coding bootcamp, or equivalent hands-on experience building production systems
  • Comfortable with Frontend (TypeScript, JavaScript, React), Backend (Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs), and Infrastructure (relational databases, Git, AWS) technologies
  • Willingness to learn and adopt best-in-class tools like Claude Code, Claude.ai, Linear, and other fast-moving AI-powered developer tools
  • Solid communication skills and a collaborative mindset-willing to ask questions, give input, and support your teammates
  • DevOps experience is a bonus, especially if you're interested in understanding how code runs in production
  • Excited to work in-person or hybrid from our beautiful downtown Austin office

Why SafeLease?
The tech: Our prospects convert fast because we're solving real problems and delivering serious value to commercial real estate owners.
The team: We're a team of seasoned pros and sharp operators who know how to move fast and build smart. High standards, low ego.
The stability: We're well-funded, growing fast, and we make sure our team shares in that success with competitive pay and equity.
The employee experience: We also offer unlimited PTO, full health benefits, flexible work setups, and the kind of culture where people want to show up to do their best work.
If you don't have all the qualifications listed, don't worry! We understand everyone's career path is unique and still encourage you to apply if you feel this role is aligned with your career trajectory.
Employment at SafeLease is contingent upon a satisfactory verification of a general and criminal background check.
