Location: Chattanooga, TN, Austin, TX, Dallas, TX or Atlanta office

POSITION SUMMARY:

The IT BI Solutions Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, models, and interactive applications. This role connects application data with business needs to deliver actionable insights, transforming data from enterprise systems and data lakes into structured, usable formats and enabling informed decisions through scalable tools and applications.

The ideal candidate combines strong Python, SQL, and data modeling skills with a builder's mindset. They enjoy connecting systems, solving data problems, and creating tools that drive process automation, and deliver clear business value. Experience with full-stack data operations platforms is highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Data Ingestion & Transformation
    • Develop a deep understanding of the data ingested from enterprise data lakes (e.g., AWS Redshift), operational databases, and APIs.
    • Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines within Palantir to clean, harmonize, and prepare data for analytics and applications.
    • Apply best practices in pipeline orchestration, performance optimization, and data validation.
  • Ontology & Data Modeling
    • Develop logical models and entity relationships that connect core business concepts such as customers, products, suppliers, and operations.
    • Build reusable data layers that can support both analytics and application use cases.
  • Application & Solution Development
    • Build full-stack data applications and analytics solutions using Python and modern frameworks.
    • Create interactive tools, dashboards, and workflows that help business users visualize and act on data.
    • Develop backend logic and APIs that feed business applications or analytics products.
  • Collaboration & Enablement
    • Partner closely with business analysts, IT teams, and functional experts to translate business questions into scalable, data-driven solutions.
    • Work iteratively and collaboratively to improve usability, data quality, and performance.
    • Document data flows, business logic, and design decisions to promote maintainability and transparency.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical Foundation
    • Proficient in Python and SQL for data transformation, automation, and application development.
    • Strong understanding of relational data modeling, joins, and data normalization.
    • Experience working with data from enterprise systems and cloud data environments (e.g., AWS Redshift, Snowflake, or SQL Server).
    • Familiarity with ETL/ELT design concepts, pipeline orchestration, and data quality validation.
  • Application Mindset
    • Experience building applications or analytics tools that combine backend data logic with front-end interaction.
    • Comfort with modern development practices (version control, modular code, CI/CD concepts).
    • Ability and motivation to learn advanced data-platform tools and frameworks.
  • Analytics & Visualization
    • Experience with BI or visualization tools (Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, etc.).

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field is required or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5+ years of experience with Python or low code application building.
  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases.
  • Understanding of Agile software development practices and continuous delivery.
  • Experience with data ETL processes (feeding from multiple different sources).
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, statistical skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
