Will Fullstack be replaced by AI?

Full Stack Software Developers perform a range of tasks that involve problem-solving, coding, and system design, which are difficult to fully automate with AI. While AI tools can assist with coding and testing, human expertise remains essential for complex development, architecture, and understanding user needs. Therefore, full stack roles are unlikely to be completely replaced by AI in the near future, but they will evolve with new tools and technologies.

What is a Full Stack Software Developer Contract job?

A Full Stack Software Developer Contract job is a temporary or project-based role where a developer is responsible for working on both the front-end and back-end of a software application. Contractors are typically hired for a set duration or until a project is completed and may work with multiple clients. They are expected to have expertise in various programming languages, frameworks, and databases to build and maintain complete web applications. This role often provides flexibility in work arrangements but requires strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to different tech stacks.

Are full-stack devs still in demand?

Full-stack software developers remain in high demand due to their versatility in handling both front-end and back-end development, with skills in frameworks like React and Node.js. Companies seek these developers for their ability to work across the entire technology stack, especially in agile environments and startups. Continuous learning of new tools and programming languages helps maintain their marketability.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

Highly experienced full stack software developers working in senior or specialized roles at large tech companies or startups can earn $500,000 or more annually, often including bonuses, stock options, and other compensation. Achieving this level typically requires advanced skills, extensive experience, and a strong track record in software development, architecture, or leadership positions.

How much do contract software developers make?

Contract software developers typically earn between $50 and $150 per hour, depending on experience, location, and project complexity. Senior developers with specialized skills or expertise in certain technologies can command higher rates, especially for short-term or high-demand projects.

What are some typical challenges faced by Full Stack Software Developers in contract roles?

Full Stack Software Developers working on contract often face the challenge of quickly adapting to new codebases and team workflows, as projects may vary widely between clients. They may need to work independently while also collaborating with in-house developers, designers, and project managers to align on technical and business requirements. Managing tight deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and learning unfamiliar technologies or systems on the fly are common aspects of the role. Adapting quickly and maintaining clear communication are key to ensuring successful project delivery and ongoing client satisfaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Full Stack Software Developer Contract position, and why are they important?

A Full Stack Software Developer on contract needs proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies, such as JavaScript frameworks, server-side languages, and databases, along with a solid understanding of software development principles. Familiarity with tools like Git, containerization platforms (e.g., Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud services, as well as relevant certifications, is often expected. Excellent problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and strong communication skills are essential for efficiently collaborating in dynamic environments and managing multiple project requirements. These skills enable success in delivering high-quality, scalable solutions within set deadlines while meeting client or organizational needs.

Your Journey at Crowe Starts Here:

At Crowe, you can build a meaningful and rewarding career. With real flexibility to balance work with life moments, you're trusted to deliver results and make an impact. We embrace you for who you are, care for your well-being, and nurture your career. Everyone has equitable access to opportunities for career growth and leadership. Over our 80-year history, delivering excellent service through innovation has been a core part of our DNA across our audit, tax, and consulting groups. That's why we continuously invest in innovative ideas, such as AI-enabled insights and technology-powered solutions, to enhance our services. Join us at Crowe and embark on a career where you can help shape the future of our industry.

About the Team

The Technical Insights Team is part of the Technology business unit within the Product Engineering delivery organization. The team delivers technology products by partnering closely with business stakeholders and engineering teams to define, prioritize, build, and continuously improve digital capabilities. Team members combine business analysis, Agile product ownership, and delivery leadership to translate business strategy into actionable product requirements, guide development teams through iterative delivery, and ensure solutions deliver measurable business value. The team also promotes continuous improvement by leveraging AI-enabled tools, automation, and Agile best practices throughout the product lifecycle.

What You'll Do

Crowe is looking to hire a Software Engineering Specialist into our Product Engineering practice to help build and modernize solutions for Crowe's Audit services. This is a high-impact role for an engineer who thrives on variety and ownership.

Unlike a traditional engineer embedded in a single Scrum team, this position is intentionally flexible. You will deploy to the highest-priority need across Audit's product portfolio and innovation initiatives, joining a team to deliver a critical feature, partnering with our innovation group to prototype what's next, or unblocking a stalled effort. This position will balance the various priorities with the stability needed to contribute and deliver.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across the Microsoft stack, a real passion for software craftsmanship, and expertise applying AI to deliver business value.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver software for Audit's flagship products and innovation team to drive the discovery and delivery of high-value features that modernize how Crowe delivers Audits.

  • Ramp quickly into new teams and begin contributing meaningfully with minimal onboarding.

  • Engage with Agile Scrum teams for feature development and delivery, adapting to each team's cadence and conventions.

  • Leverage Azure PaaS services to deliver business value efficiently and at scale.

  • Build and integrate AI solutions that align with the quality and transparency needs of an Audit practice.

  • Use AI coding assistants to accelerate the rate at which you, and your team, deliver value.

  • Collaborate with Audit practitioners and product teams to refine requirements and translate business needs into sound technical solutions.

  • Consult with teams and Architects to build consensus on architectural approaches.

  • Embrace a Shift Left mindset, weaving quality into the development lifecycle from the start.

  • Proactively surface and address impediments to help teams meet Sprint objectives.

  • Collaboratively contributes to establishing, reviewing, and upholding software development practices and architectural standards.

  • Troubleshoot product issues quickly and efficiently across a range of systems.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise applications using an n-tier architecture, the Microsoft technology stack, and the .NET framework.

  • Strong experience with ASP.NET and modern client-side development in React or Angular.

  • Strong experience building applications on the SQL Server platform using T-SQL, stored procedures, and functions, and proficiency with Entity Framework or a comparable ORM.

  • 1+ year experience designing and implementing AI-assisted workflows and solutions into software products using large language models on a major platform such as Microsoft Foundry, Anthropic, or OpenAI.

  • Experience optimizing prompts, context management, and token usage to improve response quality while managing performance and cost.

  • Hands-on experience using an AI coding assistant such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code to accelerate development.

  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and ability to apply inversion of control and unit testing to deliver loosely coupled, high-quality architectures.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps (or a similar work-item management tool) and Git for version control.

  • Ability to conduct thoughtful code reviews and collaborate with others to improve solutions and the overall product.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across many disciplines and quickly build trust with new teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • xperience working in a scaled Agile (SAFe) program.

  • Experience with SharePoint development.

We expect the candidate to uphold Crowe's values of Care, Trust, Courage, and Stewardship. These values define who we are. We expect all of our people to act ethically and with integrity at all times.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Crowe is not sponsoring for work authorization at this time.
