Job description

Stoa Group is a vertically integrated real estate company that develops, builds, owns, and operates apartment communities throughout the Gulf Coast and Southeast.

Our Data & Technology team owns an in-house platform that brings leasing, banking and capital markets, construction, accounting, and operational data together into a single source of truth. Through custom applications, dashboards, APIs, and data infrastructure, we provide the information our teams rely on to make decisions across the business.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We're looking for a Software Developer / Data Engineer to help build and support the technology platform that powers our business.

This is an opportunity to work on a business-critical platform used every day by property managers, asset managers, construction teams, and company leadership. While this role will touch the full stack, the primary focus is backend development, databases, APIs, cloud-hosted applications, and data infrastructure.

You'll work closely with the Data & Technology team to build new capabilities, improve existing systems, automate business processes, and create scalable solutions as the company continues to grow.

This is a hybrid position with a home office based in either Hammond, LA or Charlotte, NC. Candidates may reside in the Hammond/Northshore, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Charlotte markets. Regular in-person collaboration will take place in the assigned office location.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Build and maintain backend applications, APIs, and system integrations.
  • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and database processes.
  • Develop and support data pipelines that move information between business systems.
  • Support cloud-hosted applications, deployments, monitoring, and system performance.
  • Investigate and resolve data, application, and integration issues.
  • Automate recurring processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Participate in testing, code reviews, and deployment activities.
  • Partner with business teams to understand challenges and develop practical technology solutions.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations that improve the platform, development process, and overall user experience.

WHY JOIN STOA:

  • Real ownership and visible impact. You'll work on systems used across the company every day, and your work will quickly move from idea to production.
  • Broad technical exposure. While your primary focus will be backend systems, data infrastructure, and APIs, you'll gain exposure to applications, integrations, databases, cloud infrastructure, AI tools, and automation.
  • Modern technology stack. We actively use AI, automation, and modern development tools to help us move faster, solve problems, and improve how the business operates.
  • Understand the "why" behind the work. You'll work closely with the people who use what you build and gain exposure to operations, accounting, construction, development, and asset management.
  • Help shape whatโ€™s next. As the platform and team continue to grow, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of larger initiatives, influence technical decisions, and help define how we build and support technology across the organization.

Stoa Group develops, builds, owns, and operates apartment communities throughout the Gulf Coast and Southeast. We are a values-driven organization that puts people first and believes our employees are our greatest asset. We look for individuals who exemplify our core values, contribute positive energy to our culture, and are committed to continuous improvement.

We believe in investing in our people and creating an environment where employees can grow, contribute, and make a meaningful impact.

Benefits include:

  • Competitive Salary
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays
  • 100% Employer-Paid Health Insurance for Employees
  • Dental and Vision Insurance
  • Employee Rental Discount
  • Professional Development Opportunities

Stoa Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veterans. All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
