We are seeking an exceptional Full Stack Engineer to join our Data Cognition Team at BMO Capital Markets. In this pivotal role, you will architect, develop, and implement innovative solutions that drive transformational business growth and deliver substantial value to our clients across Investment Banking and Global Markets business units. You will collaborate closely with our AI team to design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade, scalable, and data-centric products, ensuring seamless integration and exceptional user experiences across the entire stack.

The Data Cognition Team (DCT) at BMO Capital Markets delivers a comprehensive, scalable, and sustainable suite of core AI-enabled products serving multiple business units. Leveraging cutting-edge data and analytics applications, we develop innovative solutions that address the most complex and challenging business problems in financial markets. Our strategic methodology drives critical processes that impact Investment Banking, Global Markets, and other key business units.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain full stack web applications using modern frameworks to deliver scalable solutions for Investment Banking and Global Markets business units

Design and implement responsive user interfaces with intuitive UX/UI design principles, creating interactive dashboards and data visualization tools for financial data analysis

Build robust APIs and microservices architectures to integrate data and services across different business units, ensuring seamless connectivity and data flow

Transform complex financial data into accessible formats through web applications and APIs, building efficient data processing pipelines for real-time market data

Implement comprehensive testing frameworks and monitoring solutions to ensure application performance, reliability, and system health across production environments

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, data scientists, and product managers to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions

Utilize agile methodologies and modern development practices including code reviews, version control, and SDLC tools to manage the complete software development lifecycle

Optimize database design and performance for both SQL and NoSQL systems, ensuring data quality and implementing validation frameworks

Stay current with emerging technologies and financial technology trends to continuously improve applications and contribute to architectural decisions

Leverage generative AI tools in development workflows to accelerate application building, documentation, and automated testing while integrating AI-powered features in products

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline

Programming language proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, with familiarity in C#, Scala, or Java

Advanced frontend development skills with React JS, including responsive design and modern UI/UX principles

Strong backend development experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Node.js frameworks and RESTful API design

Database technology expertise with SQL databases and NoSQL systems

System architecture knowledge in designing microservices, event-driven architecture, and scalable web application systems

Generative AI workflow integration with experience using AI-powered development tools, LLMs for code assistance, and implementing AI model APIs such as OpenAI or Hugging Face into production applications

Data processing understanding of pipelines, ETL processes, and real-time data handling capabilities

Performance and security awareness with monitoring tools, optimization techniques, and security best practices

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail

Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders

Self-motivated and independent work style with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Have

Advanced technology experience with Kubernetes, message queues, big data technologies, or machine learning frameworks

Cloud and DevOps experience with AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker containerization, and CI/CD pipeline implementation
