The Engineering AI Enablement organization brings together top talent and new practices to build AI-powered IT productivity solutions that empower our enterprise. As a principal, within Humana's AI Enablement team, you will be the senior technical leader for platform engineering, AI enablement, and enterprise software delivery projects. Reporting to the Director, AI Enablement, you will guide strategy and architecture. You will focus on AI developer tools and products, playing an important role in advancing Humana's technology ecosystem. This ecosystem will incorporate generative AI, automation, and agents.

Responsibilities

  • Lead platform engineering efforts to ensure advanced AI developer tools and capabilities for Humana's enterprise engineering teams.
  • Architect and lead end-to-end solutions that integrate AI, automation, and agents to support software delivery and productivity.
  • Collaborate with partners including Leadership, Engineers, Product Owners, and partners to mature use cases, define technical requirements, and provide impactful solutions.
  • You will have strong expertise in full-stack engineering capabilities
  • Proficiency in .NET and Python; familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React or Angular).
  • Deep experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP), APIs, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Provide technical strategy and guidance for Enterprise AI Chatbot product development
  • Mentor engineering staff, promoting a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and.
  • Educate and help teams across Humana on latest AI technologies, best practices, and architectural patterns.
  • Ensure in code quality, artifact management, and security for AI platforms and tools.
  • Support rapid prototyping and strategic plans alongside product and engineering leads.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in principal or architect-level roles delivering enterprise-scale AI and full stack solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing platform engineering for developer tools, AI enablement, and complex software delivery pipelines.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, Artifactory, and SonarQube.
  • Track record collaborating across multiple teams and responsibilities to bring AI solutions.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams in Agile environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Direct experience architecting and delivering AI-powered products and developer platforms.
  • Hands-on expertise with prompt engineering, large language models, and latest AI trends.
  • Familiarity with GitOps, rapid prototyping, and managing operational processes for large-scale internal customers.

Additional Information

This position follows a hybrid (remote + in office) work style and we require that one of our designated Tech Market locations - Louisville, KY; Dallas, TX; Washington, DC - performs it.

Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$156,600 - $215,400 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
