Job description

Our Commitment to Our Team
At Pipe17, our values aren't just words on a wall. They're how we operate every day.
We are a high-performance team built around ownership, urgency, curiosity, and a strong bias for action.
We set bold goals, hold ourselves accountable, and move fast to solve customer problems. Every team member owns their decisions and drives outcomes. No one waits for permission.
We operate with urgency, but not recklessly. We focus on what matters most, take initiative, and course-correct quickly when needed. We value people who speak up, follow through, and take pride in their work.
Curiosity is how we get better. We ask questions, challenge assumptions, and stay open to new ideas. We don't default to "how it's always been done." We explore, test, and learn. That mindset helps us adapt quickly, solve harder problems, and continuously raise the bar.
We also embrace AI as a force multiplier. We believe great operators don't compete with AI - they partner with it. We use AI to move faster, think deeper, and remove friction from our work, while still applying human juådgåment, creativity, and context where it matters most. Thoughtful use of AI is part of how we scale ourselves and our impact.
Finally, teamwork is at our core. We win together, support each other, and celebrate our shared victories. Collaboration across functions is a daily practice, not just something we talk about. We learn from each other, improve constantly, and rally around our mission: unify commerce after the buy button.
If these values resonate with how you like to work, you'll fit right in.
Senior Full Stack Engineer (AI-Native Platform) (SEATTLE ONLY)
Seattle, WA (On-site only); no sponsorship
About Pipe17
Pipe17 is building the AI operating system for commerce.
Our platform connects brands, retailers, marketplaces, warehouses, ERPs, and shipping providers to automate order operations at scale. Every day, we process millions of commerce events, helping customers eliminate manual work, reduce operational complexity, and move faster.
We're building software that doesn't just help people do work-it does the work.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who is an exceptional builder and embraces AI as a core part of software development. Someone who literally does not know any other way.
You'll work across the entire stack to design, build, and ship new capabilities for our company and our AI-native commerce platform. This is a high-ownership role where you'll partner closely with each and every function at the company, including product and engineering leadership to solve ambiguous problems, make architectural decisions, and deliver production software and agents quickly.
Success in this role requires strong engineering fundamentals, sound technical judgment, and the ability to leverage modern AI tools to significantly increase development velocity without compromising quality.
What You'll Do
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack applications and services.
  • Develop AI-powered features that automate complex internal and product operations.
  • Build event-driven systems that process millions of transactions reliably.
  • Develop modern web applications using React and TypeScript.
  • Build scalable backend services, APIs, and cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Customer teams to translate business problems into technical solutions.
  • Own projects from architecture through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Leverage AI coding assistants and engineering agents throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes, tooling, and developer productivity.
Qualifications
Required
  • 3-5 year experience building industrial grade software
  • Demonstrated success building and shipping production software.
  • Think deeply about customer challenges and problems
  • Strong full-stack development experience across modern frontend and backend technologies.
  • Experience designing scalable distributed systems and APIs.
  • Proficiency with TypeScript and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of databases, event-driven architectures, and system design.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants and engineering tools as part of daily development workflows.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with minimal direction.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
Experience with some or all of the following:
  • React
  • Node.js
  • Fastify
  • MongoDB
  • PostgreSQL
  • AWS Lambda
  • Amazon SQS
  • Amazon EventBridge
  • LLM APIs and AI application development
  • Agentic workflows and AI-enabled software development
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate:
  • AI first - thinks how to solve problems with AI, including with agents
  • Takes ownership of outcomes, not just assigned work.
  • Moves comfortably between frontend, backend, infrastructure, and AI applications.
  • Makes thoughtful technical tradeoffs between speed, quality, and maintainability.
  • Uses AI to accelerate design, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Learns quickly and enjoys solving difficult, open-ended engineering problems.
  • Collaborates effectively while remaining highly self-directed.
  • 5-6 years of platform and AI experience

Compensation (US FTE)
  • Competitive salary
  • Great healthcare + dental + vision coverage
  • Retirement plan
  • Pick your own equipment. We'll set you up with whatever Apple laptop + monitor combo you want plus any software you need.
  • Unlimited vacation policy. Plus we require you to take at least 2 weeks off each year. We see most employees take 4 weeks off per year. This isn't a vague policy where unlimited vacation means no vacation
