What is a full stack developer intern?

A Full Stack Developer Intern is a trainee who assists in building both the front-end (user interface) and back-end (server, database) components of web applications. Interns in this role work under the guidance of experienced developers to learn and contribute to the entire software development process. They often use programming languages like JavaScript, Python, or Java, and frameworks such as React, Node.js, or Django. The internship provides practical experience in coding, debugging, and deploying web applications, preparing interns for a full-time developer position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full stack developer intern?

To thrive as a Full Stack Developer Intern, you need a strong grasp of front-end and back-end programming languages, such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and either Node.js, Python, or Java, along with a relevant academic background in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, web frameworks (e.g., React, Express), and databases (SQL/NoSQL) is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, eagerness to learn, and effective communication skills help interns collaborate with teams and adapt to new technologies. These competencies are crucial for contributing to real-world projects, quickly adapting to workplace demands, and laying the foundation for a successful development career.

What types of projects and technologies can a full stack developer intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Full Stack Developer Intern, you'll typically be involved in projects that span both front-end and back-end development, such as building web applications, developing new features, or troubleshooting existing systems. You may work with technologies like JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React or Angular) for the front end, and languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js for the back end. It's common to collaborate closely with other developers, designers, and sometimes product managers, gaining exposure to the full software development lifecycle. Interns often participate in code reviews, agile sprints, and team meetings, providing valuable hands-on experience and learning opportunities.

How to get an internship for a full stack developer?

To secure a full stack developer internship, candidates should build a strong portfolio demonstrating skills in front-end and back-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks like React or Node.js. Gaining experience through personal projects, contributing to open-source, and obtaining relevant certifications can improve chances, along with applying through company career portals or internship programs and preparing for technical interviews. Having a solid understanding of version control systems like Git and good problem-solving skills are also beneficial.

Is a full stack developer intern still in demand?

Full stack developer internships remain in demand as companies seek candidates with skills in front-end and back-end technologies, including JavaScript, Python, and frameworks like React or Node.js. Internships provide valuable experience and can lead to full-time roles, especially as demand for versatile developers continues to grow in tech industries.

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer (Agentic AI) to join our engineering team. In this hands-on senior role, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling production-grade full-stack applications that integrate agentic AI capabilities. You will leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to dramatically accelerate delivery and elevate code quality, while maintaining deep hands-on oversight to ensure our solutions remain reliable, maintainable, and implementable. Your focus will be on the practical implementation, stability, and state management of AI agents within our existing product ecosystem, ensuring they operate reliably in a regulated environment. This includes implementing robust guardrails, security protocols, and testing/auditing mechanisms to ensure safe and predictable AI agent behavior. As a senior individual contributor, you will own features from local development through to automated CI/CD deployment and infrastructure management.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, robust full-stack features using C#, .NET, and modern frontend frameworks (Angular or React).
  • Integrate agentic AI workflows into production, building reliable state management and execution patterns to ensure agent consistency across complex, multi-step tasks.
  • Write and tune complex SQL queries and design database schemas across MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL to support traditional and AI-driven features.
  • Manage and scale AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or CloudFormation), while maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines for rapid, compliant production deployments.
  • Implement comprehensive observability and monitoring for traditional application logic and agentic AI components to ensure system uptime, performance, and reliability.
  • Participate in peer code reviews, mentor junior team members, establish shared engineering standards, and drive continuous improvement in an iterative Agile/Scrum environment.

Position Requirements
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in C#, .NET Core, and modern frontend frameworks (Angular/React).
  • Proven experience integrating AI models and agentic workflows into production applications, with a strong focus on building stable, predictable systems in regulated environments.
  • Production experience with AWS cloud infrastructure (Lambda, RDS, Bedrock) managed via Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
  • Strong testing discipline: unit, integration, and contract testing, plus the ability to build evaluation harnesses for AI features.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical and AI-related tradeoffs to non-technical, legal, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration: A desire to mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative engineering culture through effective peer code reviews.
  • Agile Proficiency: Comfortable working in an iterative, Agile/Scrum environment with a focus on delivering incremental value.
  • Learning Agility: A proactive learner who stays current with the rapidly evolving AI landscape and contributes to team knowledge sharing.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical skills, with a track record of diagnosing and resolving complex, production-level performance and stability issues.

Compliance, Governance & Technologies
  • Demonstrated success in implementing safety guardrails, security protocols, and auditability for AI-driven features.
  • Proficiency in leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and maintain high standards of reliability and maintainability.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering software within highly regulated, audit-ready environments (e.g., HIPAA, CAP/CLIA, or similar compliance frameworks).
  • Experience with AI orchestration patterns (e.g., RAG pipelines, agentic state management) and frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Semantic Kernel).
  • Experience implementing custom observability and evaluation patterns, such as leveraging OpenTelemetry for distributed tracing, monitoring model latency/hallucinations, and building automated validation harnesses.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
