Job description

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Database Engineer to join our team in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. Qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens with a TS/SCI clearance and Full Scope Polygraph.
Responsibilities:
• Provide technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis.
• Develop relational and/or Object-Oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software.
• Develop long-range requirements for database administration and design.
• Create a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and makes trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls.
• Works primarily at the front end of the lifecycle-requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).
• Develop requirements from a project's inception to its conclusion for a particular business and Information Technology (IT) subject matter area (i.e., simple to complex systems).
• Assist with recommendations and evaluation of systems improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts.
• Translates a set of requirements and data into a usable document by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros.
• Updates existing queries, creates new ones to manipulate data into a master file; and builds complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies.
Required Qualifications:
• 1-5 years of work experience as a database engineer.
• Prior experience with Python and SQL is desired.
• Prior experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS GovCloud.
• Prior experience with ETL frameworks.
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer programming, engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Any data engineering certification is desired.
Clearance Requirements:
• TS/SCI with Full-Scope Polygraph
Travel Requirements:
• N/A
The pay range for this position in MD is $90,000 to $185,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. This posting will be renewed periodically until the position is filled.
