University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Otolaryngology โ€“ Head & Neck Surgery Job Title: Surgical Tech (Healthcare Technician II) Position #: 00849989 Requisition #: 40321 University Staff Job Summary: The Department of Otolaryngology โ€“ Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has an opening for a PRN Surgical First Assistant Tech at UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital. Job duties:

  • Direct care includes practice in Perioperative, PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) or Operating Room levels of care
  • Prepare operating room, equipment, and patient for surgery
  • Maintain sterile field and follow safety protocols
  • Assist surgeon by handling instruments and anticipating needs
  • Provide visibility of surgical site (retracting, suctioning, sponging)
  • Control bleeding and assist with suturing and wound closure
  • Positions patient using stabilizing equipment to give best exposure for surgical procedure while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Apply dressings and assist with patient transfer after surgery
  • Ensure accurate counts of instruments and supplies
  • Document involvement and support post-operative care
