University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery Job Title: Surgical Tech (Healthcare Technician II) Position #: 00849989 Requisition #: 40321 University Staff Job Summary: The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has an opening for a PRN Surgical First Assistant Tech at UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital. Job duties:

• Direct care includes practice in Perioperative, PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) or Operating Room levels of care
• Prepare operating room, equipment, and patient for surgery
• Maintain sterile field and follow safety protocols
• Assist surgeon by handling instruments and anticipating needs
• Provide visibility of surgical site (retracting, suctioning, sponging)
• Control bleeding and assist with suturing and wound closure
• Positions patient using stabilizing equipment to give best exposure for surgical procedure while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
• Apply dressings and assist with patient transfer after surgery
• Ensure accurate counts of instruments and supplies
• Document involvement and support post-operative care
• FTE: PRN, 0.0, 0.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. · High School diploma or GED. · One (1) year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position · Surgical Technologist program · Certified as a one of the following: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by NBSTSA; Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by NSAA; Surgical Assistant–Certified (SA-C) by ABSA. Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates Degree
• 1+ year experience in medical office/hospital setting
