As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will serve as a technical expert and cross-functional leader. You will drive process optimization, lead NPI readiness, and champion advanced manufacturing technologies. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, improving systems at scale, and guiding teams toward sustainable operational improvements.
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Leading the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment for high-volume or high-complexity production.
  • Owning process capability (Cp/Cpk), yield improvement, and defect-reduction initiatives using DMAIC, 8D, PFMEA, and other structured methodologies.
  • Partnering with R&D, Quality, and Operations to support NPI, including DFM/DFA reviews, IQ/OQ/PQ validation, and production ramp readiness.
  • Developing and maintaining work instructions, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, and SOPs.
  • Evaluating and implementing automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies to improve efficiency and reduce labor content.
  • Leading root-cause investigations and corrective actions for production issues, equipment failures, and quality escapes.
  • Managing capital equipment projects from concept through installation, qualification, and operational handoff.
  • Analyzing production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities, driving measurable results.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and technicians to build technical capability and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, FDA, or industry-specific requirements).

To be successful in this role, you will need:
Required Qualifications
  • Have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Have 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, process, or production engineering roles.
  • Have a proven expertise in process development, statistical analysis, and manufacturing optimization.
  • Have strong proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
  • Have hands-on experience with Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and structured problem-solving.
  • Have demonstrated success leading cross-functional projects and implementing sustainable improvements.
  • Have experience with automation, robotics, CNC machining, injection molding, electronics assembly, or similar processes.
  • Have excellent communication, project management, and technical documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience in regulated industries (Aerospace, Medical Device, Automotive, Defense).
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and digital manufacturing tools.
  • Experience managing capital budgets and vendor relationships.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to spend time on the production floor interacting with equipment, operators, and processes.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs and use of PPE as required.
  • Some travel may be required for supplier visits, equipment acceptance, or training.

The annual pay scale for this position is between $96,670.00 - $179,570.00.
Candidates for this role (office-based/ hybrid/ remote) must be located in or near the locations displayed above. The pay range/scale displayed above represents Baker Hughes' good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum for this position at the time of this posting and applies to the possible locations for this position.
