Position Overview

The Solar Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the production and installation of solar energy systems. This role requires strong project management skills, technical expertise in solar technology, and the ability to lead a team of installation professionals. The Solar Installation Production Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Our Solar Production Manager will work in our Indianapolis office for the scheduling/ordering of projects, work in the field to manage quality at our work sites and travel within our Solar business market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Scheduling:

  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget estimates.

  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure project feasibility and optimize system designs.

  • Coordinate project schedules to meet customer deadlines and regulatory requirements.

  • Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and lead a team of installation technicians, subcontractors, and field personnel.

  •  Responsible for Solar production across all Solar business markets.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure the highest level of workmanship and safety.

  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the installation team.

  • Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure installations meet quality and safety standards.

  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to minimize defects and callbacks.

  • Address and resolve any installation-related issues promptly.

  • Resource Management:

  • Manage project resources, including materials, equipment, and labor, to optimize efficiency and control costs.

  • Procure and coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment as needed.

  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock of essential components.

  • Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce strict safety protocols and standards on all installation sites.

  • Conduct safety training and promote a culture of safety awareness among the installation team.

  • Investigate and report any safety incidents or near misses.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate project records, including installation documentation, permits, and inspections.

  • Generate regular progress reports and performance metrics for senior management.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and permits.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, renewable energy, or a related field is preferred

  • Proven experience in solar installation and project management

  • Strong knowledge of solar PV technology, electrical systems, and construction methods

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills

  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills

  • Proficiency in project management software and Google Suite

  • Military service a plus

  • Spanish language a plus

  • Valid driver's license required

  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Comfortable working outdoors and at heights is required

  • Ability to travel to other markets for Solar business needs

Work Environment

  • This position will work in our Indianapolis office for the scheduling/ordering of projects, work in the field to manage quality at our work sites and travel within our Solar business market.

  • Must be able to work in varied weather conditions and in a physically demanding environment.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry 50 lbs. 

  • Ability to climb ladders to determine work needs

Driving

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record that meets company and insurance requirements to travel to and from work sites.
