Job description

Senior Electrical Power Market Engineer (FTR)

Eagan, MN

Senior Electrical Power Market Engineer role collaborates with multiple MISO areas including modeling, planning, outage coordination, credit, settlements, and operations to administer an energy market used to hedge transmission congestion charges for load serving entities in the Dayโ€‘Ahead Energy and Operating Reserves Market.

Scope includes work on projects from process automation to implementing major changes that maintain the value of the MISO Financial Transmission Rights Market in an increasingly renewableโ€‘integrated grid.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Validate and analyze models, and independently conduct the monthly Financial Transmission Rights auction.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve processes and implement transformative changes.

Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology.
Experience
  • Minimum five years of related work experience.
  • Preferred: at least eight years of energy industry experience, or experience in Financial Transmission Rights markets, Dayโ€‘Ahead Energy markets, realโ€‘time energy market design, operations, administration, or trading.
  • Realโ€‘time or market operations experience as an operator.
  • Power flow analysis and congestion forecasting experience.
  • Programming, automation, and data analytics skills.
  • NERC certification.

Compensation: $127,000.00 โ€“ $152,000.00 USD per year base. Eligibility for an annual bonus and comprehensive benefits including 401(k), vacation, sick, and safe time.
