Job description

The Food Service Leader (FSL) is responsible for the day-to-day food service operations which include enforcement of recipes and procedures, product ordering, food quality assurance, employee training, and preserving sanitation requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensures all food service employees are working at their required stations, maintaining maximize efficiency, and following proper health and hygiene protocols.
  • Assists in implementing new food programs, food products, limited time offers, and promotions as directed by the Food Service Department.
  • Assists the Store Manager in preparing work schedules, guaranteeing proper food service station coverage.
  • Assists with training and development of all food service team members and ensures all food service employees follow the requirements of the company program.
  • Maintains the sanitation and organization of all foodservice storage areas (including walk-in refrigerators and freezers) as well as all equipment maintenance and sanitation requirements.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Food safety certification (or the successful completion of High's food safety certification within 2 months of hire) is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Ability to work well individually as well as in a team environment.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Flexible to work all shifts, weekends and holidays as needed by the business.
  • Reliable transportation required.

Working Conditions:
  • Retail environment with occasional exposure to dust, extreme temperatures, contact with petroleum and/or cleaning products, etc.
  • Constant standing with frequent bending and lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Employees are expected to come to work and maintain full store operations in all weather conditions unless closure of the store is ordered by the company.
  • The FSL is enrolled in, and is committed to, the in-store training program. A key requirement of the training program and role is to be available during the highest volume food service shifts/times in order to receive and rotate foodservice deliveries and organize crucial duties to staff members.
  • The FSL must meet or exceed the training and certification requirements of the shift leader including, but not limited to, Equipment training certification, Leadership training, Food safety (S.U.R.E.) certification, and all other food service excellence modules and classroom certifications. In high volume food service locations, mastery of the FSL position is required as a pre-requisite for promotion to the next level position of Assistant Store Manager (ASM)
