Position Summary:
The Software Engineer will be responsible for developing the web-based frontend for our Robotics products. This role focuses on building and evolving a modern web application using Svelte and TypeScript that communicates with C++ backend services via gRPC. The platform also includes an existing Qt Widgets-based UI, and this person will contribute across both the web and Qt layers as needed. This person needs strong web development skills, an eye for design, and the ability to build responsive, performant, and accessible user interfaces. The position will be a hands-on one with the individual capable of creative and systematic product development with minimum supervision.
Essential Functions:
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Developing prototypes, proofs of concept in addition to production-quality solutions
  • Ensuring efficient performance and scalability of solutions
  • Demonstrating a passion for software development, software craftsmanship, and test-driven development
  • Effectively plan, track, and communicate software development efforts, either individually or as a team
  • Understanding of an FDA design control environment
  • Contributing to designing, testing and documentation of software solutions
  • Building modern web applications using component-based architectures
  • Developing reusable UI components - Building responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces
  • Contributing to the existing Qt Widgets-based UI as needed
  • Collaborating with backend engineers on API contracts and data flow
  • Supports manufacturing, internal testing, and external customers when presented with quality issues. Prioritizes work to identify the root cause and create a corrective plan that ensures timely resolution of issues.
  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies
  • Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role

Qualifications:
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
  • At least 3+ years of industry experience
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript
  • Experience with modern web frameworks (Svelte preferred; React, Vue, or similar accepted)
  • Strong skills in HTML5 and CSS3 - Experience with reactive programming patterns
  • Experience with state management patterns (stores, reactive state)
  • Experience with component-based UI architecture and building reusable component libraries
  • Strong creative design sensibility and attention to UI/UX detail
  • Strong knowledge of Git, Jira and Confluence tools
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools effectively - including the ability to plan, prompt, critically evaluate output, and maintain code quality standards
  • Can communicate and breakdown complex technical concepts to non-technical team members and stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as a key contributor in small teams - Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

The following skill sets are preferred: - Experience with C/C++ and Qt Widgets - Familiarity with gRPC and/or Protocol Buffers - Experience with web performance optimization - Familiarity with linear algebra and 3D math concepts - Experience writing scripts in Bash, PowerShell or Python - Experience in Medical Device field
