Job description

Job Summary:
Picnic is reinventing lunch at work by delivering high-quality, individually packaged meals from local restaurants. They are seeking a Frontend Engineer to build and scale their real-time logistics and operations platforms, working closely with backend and operations teams to enhance frontend architecture and performance.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Design and build high-performance React applications powered by WebSockets, SSE, and GraphQL subscriptions.
โ€ข Contribute to and shape our courier mobile apps built in React Native.
โ€ข Lead technical design for complex features and systems, from initial architecture through production rollout
โ€ข Own projects end-to-end, driving execution, technical decisions, and cross-functional alignment
โ€ข Improve frontend reliability, latency, and scalability in a real-time, high-throughput environment
โ€ข Lead debugging, incident response, and performance investigations for frontend systems
โ€ข Mentor and coach engineers, raising the bar for frontend engineering across the team
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข 2+ years of experience in software engineering, with deep frontend expertise
โ€ข Strong experience with TypeScript and modern web application development
โ€ข Solid understanding of client networking, async programming, performance optimization, caching, and client-side state management
โ€ข Experience integrating with GraphQL and REST APIs
โ€ข Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence architecture and best practices
โ€ข Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting team growth
