What is a frontend developer?

Frontend Developers are professionals who design and build the user-facing parts of websites and web applications. They use technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create interactive and visually appealing interfaces that users interact with directly in their browsers. Frontend Developers work closely with designers and backend developers to ensure a seamless and responsive user experience across different devices and platforms. Their role often includes optimizing website performance, ensuring accessibility, and maintaining code quality.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a frontend developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Frontend Developer, you need a solid grasp of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React or Angular, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), responsive design tools, and web performance optimization techniques is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities help you build intuitive, user-friendly interfaces and collaborate effectively with design and backend teams. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering high-quality, interactive web applications that meet user and business needs.

How do frontend developers collaborate with designers and backend teams during a project?

Frontend Developers regularly work closely with UX/UI designers to ensure that visual elements are accurately translated into interactive web pages and applications. They also coordinate with backend developers to integrate APIs and manage data flow between the server and the user interface. Regular meetings, code reviews, and collaborative tools like version control systems help streamline communication and maintain consistency across the project. This teamwork is essential to deliver a cohesive and high-performing end product.

Job description

About 7AI
7AI is the foundational AI security company. Founded in 2024 by Cybereason co-founders Lior Div and Yonatan Striem-Amit, we came out of stealth in February 2025 to take on the non-human work of the SOC. Our platform pairs a federated SIEM with AI agents that detect, investigate, respond, and hunt, plus dedicated threat hunting and threat intelligence, with humans on the loop.
Backed by $166 million in total funding from investors including Index Ventures and Blackstone, we're building the AI foundation for security operations in the agentic era, and we're still early. That's the appeal: you'll join at a pivotal stage where your work shapes what 7AI becomes, alongside security veterans who've built this before. Our culture runs on respect, collaboration, and a shared bar for excellence, all pointed at one goal, delivering real outcomes for the customers who trust us to defend them.
Overview
Security teams won't trust an AI agent's call if they can't see how it got there, and most interfaces aren't built to make that reasoning visible. You'll design and build the user-facing components of our AI-native cloud platform, turning complex cybersecurity capabilities into interfaces people can actually use. A core part of the job is making AI decisions explainable: you'll help users understand how the system reached a conclusion, not just what it output. As a senior engineer, you'll shape our frontend architecture, mentor other engineers, and work closely with design and product.
What You'll Do
  • Architect and build performant web interfaces for our AI-native cloud platform.
  • Set frontend technical direction: choose the frameworks, libraries, and tools that keep the codebase scalable and maintainable.
  • Work with product, design, and backend teams to turn complex cybersecurity use cases into intuitive, user-centered experiences.
  • Define and uphold coding standards, testing practices, and frontend architecture.
  • Optimize performance across browsers and devices, and ensure accessibility and responsiveness.
  • Contribute to long-term engineering strategy.
  • Give technical feedback on UX designs and feature requirements.

What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of professional frontend engineering experience, with a track record of building and scaling production-grade web applications.
  • Deep expertise in React (or similar frameworks such as Vue or Angular) and strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Strong experience with frontend architecture, APIs, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based environments and integrating with backend APIs and services.
  • Comfortable working with AI coding tools such as Cursor.
  • Experience with UI/UX best practices, responsive design, and accessibility standards.
  • Ability to make sound technical decisions in a fast-changing environment and communicate trade-offs clearly.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A collaborative, proactive mindset with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
