Become an Automation Developer at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll design, develop, and implement intelligent automation solutions that transform business operations across Customer Service.
You will serve as a technical leader in automation delivery-building scalable digital solutions that replicate manual processes, improve data flow, and drive measurable operational efficiencies. Partnering with business stakeholders, developers, and data teams, you will help shape and deliver automation strategies that enhance reliability, performance, and customer outcomes.
This position plays a critical role in advancing SCE's Digital Labor strategy by leveraging technologies such as UiPath, Power Automate, and other automation tools to deliver innovative, end-to-end intelligent solutions.
Incident Management Team Expected Participation: Employees are expected to support emergency response and/or business continuity efforts, including readiness to serve on an Incident Management Team (IMT) when needed. Employees will participate in an on-call rotation (approximately every four to six weeks), to support IMT activations during emergency events. IMT assignments may differ from an individual's regular responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Gathers user requirements and feedback to develop solutions for web applications and systems.
  • Designs, develops, tests, deploys, documents, and supports custom developed small to mid-sized software solutions.
  • Develops front-end design, database, technical documentation, test procedures, source control, coding, and system configuration.
  • Designs, develops and deploys low code cloud-based solutions.
  • Addresses assigned technical support incidents, performs root cause analysis and mitigation and recommends improvements to applications.
  • Delivers responsive, standards-based, accessible, user-focused templates and interfaces.
  • Manages software development lifecycle and associated development operations software and systems. Monitors systems for optimized data storage and processing functions in accordance with security policies and best practices.
  • Identifies risks and make recommendations for best practices.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of experience in applications development utilizing SDLC and/or DevOps practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience automating business processes using tools such as UiPath, Power Automate, Copilot Studio or similar technologies.
  • Experience developing or integrating AI-powered agents or digital assistants that can interact with users, systems, or data sources to automate decisioning, task execution, or customer interactions.
  • Certification in UiPath or other automation platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Java, C#, Python, SQL, or SAS.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end automation lifecycle management. Including solution design, governance, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Additional Information
  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
