Job description

The YouVersion Staff Quality Engineer serves as a technical leader within the quality engineering team, responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive testing strategies across all platforms. This role is focused on ensuring the delivery of high-quality software by leading the design and maintenance of automated test suites, mentoring team members, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed quality assurance best practices throughout the development lifecycle. The Staff Quality Engineer owns the quality process, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and plays a key role in solving complex quality issues, ensuring alignment across engineering teams. The Engineer utilizes their skills to deliver technical outcomes that align with the direction of their team to further Life.Church's mission and to reach people for Christ.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and maintain QE strategies across mobile, web and gaming platforms, ensuring high-quality software delivery.
  • Review, refine, and enhance the existing frameworks.
  • Evaluate and provide estimates for testing efforts.
  • Lead design and execution of manual and automated tests for functionality, performance, and security.
  • Identify process gaps and proactively implement improvements.
  • Plan and manage the scalability of QE processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex QE issues and escalate problems where needed.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, tools, and technologies to keep QE processes up to date.
  • Lead cross-functional quality initiatives to ensure smooth and high-quality product launches.
  • Lead and own QE processes and strategies, with the ability to guide and mentor others in quality practices and test strategies.
  • Drive process improvements and optimize QE workflows.
  • Lead automation initiatives to enhance test coverage and reduce manual testing.
  • Participate in release planning, ensuring the QE process is embedded and timelines are met.
  • Monitor quality metrics and advocate for quality standards.
  • Collaborate with leadership on QE process alignment across teams.

Skills Needed to Succeed
  • Proficiency in developing scalable, production-ready automation suites, ensuring they are maintainable, readable, and cover edge cases.
  • Adaptability to industry-leading tools and the ability to integrate emerging QE technologies to continually improve processes.
  • Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions, and solve problems with innovation.
  • Effective at multi-tasking and time management to meet strict deadlines while remaining flexible and open to change.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to clearly explain complicated processes and foster partnerships.
  • Effective at process and organizational management to coordinate, structure, and provide vision to projects.
  • Strong leadership skills and understanding of developing and guiding others.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in quality engineering, software testing, or a similar role, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality software products.
  • Deep expertise in QE methodologies and extensive hands-on experience with test automation frameworks across front-end, back-end, and service layers.
