Job description

Gym Staff - The Front Climbing Club (Ogden)Got Chalk on Your Hands and a Smile for Everyone Who Walks In?

If you light up talking about your last send, making people feel welcome, and can't sit still during a slow shift - we want you on our floor.

About The Front

The Front isn't just a climbing gym - it's a community. We build spaces designed to spark connection, inspire people to push themselves, and bring climbers of every level together under one roof. Whether it's a first-timer nervous on the wall or a regular chasing a new project, our team is what makes The Front feel like home.

About the Role

As Gym Staff at our Ogden location, you're the face of The Front - welcoming members, running the front desk, keeping the space clean and safe, and helping guests have the best day of their week. This is a full-time role paying $17–$19/hour, with plenty of room to grow into new responsibilities as you go.

What You'll Do
  • Greet guests and members with genuine warmth, check them in, and give tours that show off everything we offer
  • Sign up new members, manage paperwork, and keep account details current
  • Answer calls and questions about climbing, memberships, events, and merch
  • Ring up sales, process exchanges and returns, and pitch in during competitions and events
  • Keep the gym spotless - sweeping, mopping, laundry, and daily deep-cleaning
  • Walk the facility on a set schedule, flagging anything that needs attention
  • Share basic climbing tips and be a friendly, approachable presence on the floor
  • Keep an eye on the climbing areas - checking certification tags, watching belay technique, and making sure everyone's climbing safely
  • Speak up when something looks unsafe (gear on the mats, kids near fall zones) and run belay tests and autobelay orientations
  • Jump in wherever needed, staying proactive and solution-minded during every shift
What You Bring

You might be a great fit if...

  • You've got 5+ years of experience between work, school, or training - customer service, sales, or hospitality backgrounds are a big plus
  • You're naturally friendly, communicate well, and can defuse a tense moment without breaking a sweat
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can juggle a few things at once without losing your cool
  • You're passionate about climbing and excited to learn our gear and merchandise inside and out
  • Your schedule can flex to include nights, weekends, and the occasional last-minute shift
  • You stay busy and motivated even when things slow down
  • You've got (or are ready to get) your First Aid/CPR and Utah Alcohol Certification, and you're comfortable with basic MS Office
  • You notice the little things - a streaky window, a member who seems frustrated - and you do something about it
Perks & Benefits
  • PTO
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Life, Short-Term, and Long-Term Disability coverage
  • Accident insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Free gym membership
  • Discounts on food and merch
  • Room to grow across departments as The Front expands
