What is a front end developer internship?

A Front End Developer Internship is an entry-level position where you gain hands-on experience in building and designing the user interface of websites and web applications. Interns typically work with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Angular to develop responsive and interactive web pages. They collaborate with designers, backend developers, and product teams to implement features and improve user experience. This internship helps build practical coding skills, provides exposure to industry tools, and can serve as a stepping stone to a full-time front-end development role.

What types of projects or responsibilities can I expect during a front end developer internship?

As a Front End Developer Intern, you can expect to work on real web application features such as building interactive UI components, fixing bugs, writing clean and maintainable code, and assisting in website optimization for performance and accessibility. You may collaborate closely with designers to translate design mockups into functional interfaces and join code reviews with other developers to improve your skills. The role typically involves using industry-standard tools like Git and task management platforms, providing hands-on experience in a professional development workflow. This environment is an excellent opportunity to strengthen your technical abilities and contribute meaningfully to ongoing projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a front end developer internship, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Front End Developer Intern, you need a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a keen eye for user interface design, often supported by coursework or personal projects in web development. Familiarity with tools and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js, as well as version control systems such as Git, can be highly beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively within a team set exceptional candidates apart. These skills and qualities are vital for developing user-friendly, visually appealing web applications while collaborating efficiently in a dynamic tech environment.

Description:

About the team

Our team is driven by a shared passion for advancing clinical research technology and improving patient quality of life.

Innovation is core to how we work. We give our teams the tools and the culture to turn new ideas into real solutions for our customers, in an environment built on collaboration and individual initiative. We're guided by four principles: client centricity, orchestrated collaboration, robust simplicity, and efficient and secure workflows.

The role translates product requirements into clean, well-tested, production-grade code and contributes to sound system design and shared engineering standards. Working within team guardrails for agentic AI in the SDLC, the engineer uses agent-based development workflows to improve velocity, quality, and reliability. The role partners closely with Product, DevOps, and QA and grows toward greater technical ownership over time.

  • Follow engineering best practices and coding standards
  • Participate in design and code reviews to ensure quality and consistency
  • Contribute to improvements in CI/CD, testing, observability, and operational resilience

  • Stay current on team standards and guardrails for agentic AI usage in the SDLC
  • Collaborate with and support teammates, including interns, as needed
  • Use open-source frameworks and third-party components as needed for assigned work
  • Partner closely with Product, DevOps, and QA to support reliable, scalable delivery
