What is a front end assistant?

Front End Assistants are employees who support the checkout and customer service operations at retail stores, especially in warehouse clubs like Costco. Their main duties include helping customers pack and load their purchases, maintaining organized and clean checkout areas, and assisting cashiers with bagging or moving items. They also provide general customer assistance, handle carts, and ensure the front end of the store runs smoothly. This role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a front end assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Front End Assistant, you typically need strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and basic math abilities, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash registers, and inventory management tools is usually required. Excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to remain calm under pressure help someone excel in this role. These skills are vital for ensuring smooth checkout experiences, accurate transactions, and positive customer interactions in a busy retail environment.

What are some common challenges front end assistants face during peak business hours?

Front End Assistants often encounter increased customer volume and longer lines during peak hours, which can make it challenging to maintain efficient service and a positive customer experience. They must balance tasks such as bagging, cart retrieval, and assisting with customer inquiries, all while staying organized and focused under pressure. Developing strong communication with team members and staying adaptable helps manage these busy periods and ensures smooth front-end operations.

Job description

CourtAvenue is a company of industry experts accelerating digital transformation for the world’s most ambitious companies.

At CourtAvenue, you will be a part of a culture powered by entrepreneurs, technologists, data scientists and the habitually restless dedicated and energized to design products and services that transform businesses while optimizing them for growth. You will have the opportunity to learn and grow within a culture that values innovation while focusing on redesigning the experience between consumer and service (or product) by leveraging a fluid, seamless, and thoroughly transparent engagement.

In 2026, CourtAvenue launched a dedicated MarTech practice, bringing enterprise platform strategy, systems integration, and digital experience delivery under one roof. Our MarTech team works at the intersection of the CMO and CTO, designing and implementing platform ecosystems across Adobe CX Enterprise, Contentful (now part of Salesforce), Optimizely, and emerging composable stacks. This is disciplined, standards-driven platform delivery that earns trust with client IT and marketing leadership alike.

The Front End Developer at CourtAvenue builds within enterprise platforms at a level that earns the trust of client IT teams. On the UnitedHealthcare engagement, this means Adobe Experience Manager first: you understand how AEM structures components, how content is stored and surfaced, and how to build clean, performant front end code within those constraints.

This is not a general web development role. You have real Adobe Experience Manager experience, including production work on AEM Sites and Assets. You understand the platform deeply enough to build within it independently, ask the right questions, and surface technical trade-offs before they become build problems.

You will work closely with the MarTech architect and a cross-functional delivery team. You own your code, you communicate clearly, and you take quality seriously.

Responsibilities
  • Build front end components and templates within Adobe Experience Manager, including AEM Sites Assets

  • Develop performant, accessible, responsive front end experiences using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern JS framework such as React

  • Build and maintain API integrations that connect front end experiences to back end data sources and platform services

  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, BAs, designers, and project managers to translate requirements into clean, platform-compliant code

  • Communicate technical trade-offs and build decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders

  • Follow and contribute to established code quality practices: git workflows, linting, component organization, and documentation standards

  • Participate actively in code reviews and contribute to raising the team's output quality

Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional front end development experience, with at least 2 years in production Adobe Experience Manager environments

  • Hands-on experience with AEM Sites and Assets; familiarity with how AEM structures, stores, and serves content

  • Solid proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; working experience with React (Angular or Vue considered)

  • Experience building API integrations connecting front end to back end systems and platform services

  • Proficiency with git and collaborative git workflows

  • Clear communicator who can explain technical decisions to non-technical teammates and clients

Final compensation will be determined based on total related experience as well as geography of the candidate selected.
