The EDEM team manages a fleet of over 45,000 Windows devices across Michigan Medicine (the academic medical center of the University of Michigan). EDEM?s mission is to provide customer-focused engineering services for the development and management of reliable, secure, and supportable computing devices.
Job Summary
Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) plays a role in the success of Michigan Medicine by providing clinicians, educators, researchers, students, and staff with technology-related information, products, and support. HITS also provides institutional expertise related to IT strategy, security, infrastructure, and resource management.
The HITS Enterprise Device Engineering and Management (EDEM) Team is seeking a highly talented, customer and result driven engineer to help manage its fleet of Windows and IGEL endpoints. Responsibilities of this role include:
  • Engineering and troubleshooting of managed endpoint solutions.
  • Maintaining the health and compliance of the managed endpoint fleet.
  • Assisting with Service Desk, Device Support, and complex customer issues.
  • 24x7 on-call support

Responsibilities*
You should have experience managing Windows endpoints with SCCM and Intune, as well as application packaging using relevant tools to package, deploy, and troubleshoot software. You will possess a broad understanding of supporting the Windows desktop operating system in an enterprise environment. You will have strong analytical skills and experience with ITIL-based tools such as Service Now. You will be a driven individual constantly in search of ways to reduce operational overhead and improve efficiencies using incident trend analysis. You will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills as well as a strong desire to resolve issues in a timely manner and with great care toward the customer.
Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience supporting Windows operating systems, including management, troubleshooting, and general product lifecycle management in a diverse enterprise environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Desired Qualifications*
  • Working knowledge of / experience with endpoint management technologies, preferably Microsoft Intune, MECM/SCCM and Group Policy.
  • Intermediate familiarity with IGEL/Linux environments.
  • Working experience with software packaging tools (Flexera Admin Studio preferred) in conjunction with deployment setup, and monitoring via Microsoft SCCM and/or Intune.
  • Ability to analyze deployment logs and resolve packaging or deployment-related issues efficiently.
  • Strong PowerShell command-line and scripting abilities.
  • Hands-on experience with PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT).
  • Experience with ITIL-based helpdesk ticketing systems (i.e., Service Now), for managing incidents, service requests, and change-control processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills: the ability to interpret incident trends and draw conclusions, design solutions and make recommendations based on that analysis.
  • Ability to create architectural and procedural documentation for technical and non-technical readers.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills (attention to detail) with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Strong background in customer service, providing direct customer support.
  • Time management skills to work with multiple projects at various stages of development.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Certification in one or more Microsoft areas (i.e., MCSE).
  • Experience in Healthcare IT

Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .
Work Schedule
This position is being offered as a Hybrid position. There will be times when it will be appropriate for you to work from home. There will be other times when you will be required to work onsite for meetings, and hardware testing/troubleshooting. This position will be 90% remote work.
On-Call rotation participation and after-hours support are required for this position.
